So it looks like three matchups are possible

win and rats lose - Home game vs Chargers
win and rats win or loss and chargers loss road game at Texans
loss and chargers win road game at ravens

which do you think happens and which do you want to happen?

i know all the tomlin haters will say drop the bungle game and then drop whichever wildcard game match up

but pretend for a minute anyone else is coaching

what matchup do you expect and which would you like to see

I fully expect a win against the bungles but the browns are the browns and they fall so the ravens take the division (i would prefer they actually step up and knock off the ravens)

the Steelers can defeat the texans even with their new stud wideout DJ.....plus I would get to see a Steeler playoff game in person

still want the home game though

1. Steelers vs. Chargers
Selfishly I want to go to a home game. Outside of the Chiefs game, the Steelers have generally played very well at home this year and that gives them their best chance of winning.

2. Steelers at Texans
The only AFC playoff team that maybe looks worse than the Steelers right now is the Texans. I'd like to see some element of payback after last year's beatdown. A completely non-related negative is Houston is one of my least favorite stadiums to watch a game on TV.

3. Steelers at Ravens
I know the Steelers have owned the Ravens lately, but with Lamar and Henry, they have some wins ahead to start to balance things out in this rivalry. However, the Ravens have had 3 one and dones in the past 6 years.

That takes me to my happy place, even if it is only for a few minutes.

Ravens and Chargers win, Steelers lose to the bungles. The Steelers are folding, no... imploding in a predictable late season crash and there are never any answers nor accountability for any of it. We as fans are given tomlinisms and platitudes instead, and then we witness another contract extension to see this scenario play out another three years.

so sick of this ****

Anymore how can anyone say that they are sure we will beat any team? Can we? Sure. Not a given though. Can we beat the Bengals? Yep. We can probably lose to them just as well. This team is lost. No identity on either side of the ball. Hopefully we beat the Bengals and the Browns win some how.

That said. I hope Rooney opens his eyes this offseason. Tomlin won't be going anywhere. We all know that. Rooney can tell Tomlin to bring in new guys on both sides of the ball though. Snatch a yound coach on offense from any of the top teams....perhaps. The same on Defense. Let these guys do their thing. More of a hands off type move for Tomlin.

Get it done Rooney!!!!

I think Smith has shown flashes of being good. Mabe a new line coach. Defensively I am not sure.

That isn't going to do any good. Tomlin tells the OC that the Steelers are a run first team and he tells the DC that the Steelers bend and don't break. Here is the official playbook on offense, here is the defense we're running Mr. DC.

The Steelers don't change until Tomlin and his tired philosophy are gone.

I believe this is the case. Everything has been the same for quite a while now. The offense has a few new wrinkles with Smith, but it's basically the same with little play action, running on first down about 90% of the time, everything to the outside and by God do not attack the middle of the field, especially when it is wide open. The defense is just blah, two down linemen Tampa 2 horse **** with little to no blitzing and a dearth of creativity. The team needs an infusion of youth and creativity in the coaching staff with a head coach that doesn't live in his fears.

Just get in.
If Tomlin’s lack of coaching can suffice a playoff win; great!

Just get in at this point(which they are) don’t worry about the division

Agreed. This team is way too traditional and in turn predictable.

I always look for wins, so the bungles would be a win.

I also think that a home play off game is their best chance to win a PO game, although Texans look pretty positive as well.

I also feel they have a very good chance at beating the Texans and for the love of GOD, would love for Coolie to go to a play off game to his favorite team. I’d expect after game input and not any of that cheap bulllshlit stuff he’s been putting out lately………………. Act like you were there……

That was my point though. Rooney tells Tomlin to let the OC and DC do their job with a hands-off approach from him. Unlikely. but that is all one can hope for at this point. Tomlin isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

I don’t pretend to know what will happen but I think our best chance for our first playoff win in ages would be to play the Texans.

BAL -17.5 vs CLE
CIN -2.5 vs PGH

So the odds are it’s going to be a road game vs the Ravens.

In a world where the HC would be held accountable, this would make sense, however we all know this isn't the case. It really doesn't matter who the coordinators are if they don't have autonomy.

As to Coolies question, I would always prefer a home game. That would mean winning the North, a confidence booster of sorts, and sea of towels in the stand.

Maybe it's because we're just casual fans and there's more to this that we aren't aware of, but how can the ownership continue to seemingly ignore this team being in a 10-year slump? If Deuce refuses to see this, perhaps it's time for him to hand over the reins.

You know, I often think about this and of course we don't get to see the Tomlin/Deuce/Khan dynamic but even us casual fans have witnessed this debacle for almost two decades now and we have seen positional coaches, OC's, DC's, GM's and even the handover from the great Dan Rooney to his son type of changes. Tomlin is the only consistent denominator. To be fair to Art2, I don't believe Dan would have let Tomlin go either.

I might also add that in theory, Rooney puts his foot down but, in reality it seems that Rooney is only offering suggestions.

That is a hard call, but I'm pretty sure Dan would have been holding a little more accountability.

I don't think the O'Canada experiment would have lasted as long as it did.

I also think that the "fire canada" chants would have brought more reprimand than what Art 2 perceivably did.

We as fans will never get the insight we want, I doubt we as fans will see an actual HOT SEAT firing of Coach Tomlin.

PS Thanks for all your great post(s) along the way SIR.

The seamless use of "dearth" is an impressive vocabulary word on a MB in all sincerity. I remember learning it in Middle School. Surprised Tomlin hasn't used it yet to describe his playoff results from a structural and environmental standpoint.

Thanks. Just another benefit of American Public Education.

In all seriousness, I took a vocabulary class as a junior in high school. I learned a lot. Kinda stunned at how much of it I remember.

In my hypothetical scenario Rooney doesn't give a suggestion .......he gives an ultimatum.

Early in the season it actually looked like Tomlin was taking more of a hands off approach. As the season progressed not so much.
