What was wrong with the post he replied to, other than it disagreed with his opinion?

I think the surprise here isn't necessarily that he got cut. The draft picks make that a reasonable possibility.Yup, that got one brick out of Nayha's way while saving that 2.25 (closer to a net +1.25 when factoring in his replacement's salary).
gotta figure CP's 2.8 could be better spent elsewhere too now that they have Johnson and Warren has signed his tender.
even if the money goes to extensions or roll over money it beats overpaying aging vets with minimal roles/minimal production.
One of my biggest fears with the Nayha pick was that he wouldn't beat out both Adams and Loudermilk and they would try to slip him on PS and then he gets snatched up equating to a wasted pick.
That pretty much locks in Cam, Benton, Harmon and Ekuale as the primary guys with Leal and Nayha as the depth along with whoever wins between Lowry/Loudermilk. They probably go Loudermilk as he's younger and more versatile being able to play inside or out wheras Lowry is pretty much an aging DE only guy. He's gonna have to bring it if he even makes it to preseason.
I don't think we're at a point where we need to make room for these deals. Which doesn't mean that we won't make more room IMO.Starting to make room for the rogers & more importantly, the TJ WATT.!!!

My understanding is that Watt's deal will likely significantly lower his base salary this year and give him a monster SB that gets spread out over the length of the deal. So Watt's cap number should go down from what it is right now.
My guess is that the contract we're offering Rodgers is probably similar to the one we offered Fields that he didn't take. Around (and maybe a little below) $20MM. If it's the 1 year deal that people seem to be talking about, then it would all hit the cap this year.
I believe that we have that now and probably pretty close to room to spare for other offseason stuff (e.g. signing draft picks, buffer that we bring into the season every year, etc) as long as the reduction in Watt's cap hit is on the order of $5MM or so.
$10MM would be great for us. I think it will even be hard to complain too much about $20MM / year (as long as the structure doesn't suck)On the Pat McAfee show, Arron Rogers stated he’d play for $10 mil, I’d hope that is true and he/we hold to that. I think it will be $12 mil based on his old jersey number………..

Any idea on what it will take for George to stay here ?
I’d say 26.5-34 mil a season X 4, with 60 million guaranteed. That’s prior to this up-coming season.
I see him being broke 5yrs after the NFL.

It's the timing.
There's no real reason to cut a guy who's at least an NFL player at this point in the offseason.
Caps don't matter yet. And the savings after displacement is just over $1MM. I don't know about his contract specifically, but roster bonuses usually come due before the draft.
Why not bring him to camp as insurance against injury or Black not being good enough to make the roster?
I wonder if he quietly asked to leave. Seems like a good will gesture to a low quality starter / good quality backup to me.
