Just surprised it took this long...

Looking at the numbers on overthecap.com, he carried a $4M base salary this year that was not guaranteed. The prorated portion of his bonus is $1,482,500. So, apparently, they backloaded his contract and he received the signing bonus and vet minimum last year.Witherspoon signed a 2-year contract for $8 million in 2022, with a signing bonus of $2,965,000. How does releasing him clear a full 4 million in 2023 cap space, when there's a dead cap hit of $1.4825 million?

They have Wallace, peterson, Porter, and Pierre who can play outside I still think Trice is at best a long shot unless he shows he can play slot…Are they gonna roll the dice with Trice or bring in someone in for insurance?
I feel like a safety is playing slot corner. The dude from Atlanta is pretty slick in cover from what I saw last year. They have Wallace, peterson, Porter, and Pierre who can play outside I still think Trice is at best a long shot unless he shows he can play slot…
Kinda feel like all Trice has to show is that he can do everything Pierre does, only faster/quicker. They seem to treat Pierre like the tagalong little brother or the unwanted step-child.They have Wallace, peterson, Porter, and Pierre who can play outside I still think Trice is at best a long shot unless he shows he can play slot…
Pierre does better vs bigger/taller receivers. When he has to change direction and cover the little WRs he gets tripped up.Kinda feel like all Trice has to show is that he can do everything Pierre does, only faster/quicker. That's gold Jerry! GOLD!
This is my #1 Steal Pick in the draft....I NEED you to be wrong...I still think Trice is at best a long shot unless he shows he can play slot…

I mean he could beat out Pierre, and we could keep a bunch of slot capable S guys… but right now its a numbers game… the number of the most dbs they will keep is 10 total. This is my #1 Steal Pick in the draft....I NEED you to be wrong...
I dunno for me the guy slipped due to injury. I think if he stays healthy he gets a spot based on film and draft stock. If he doesn't stay healthy he gets IR'd.I mean he could beat out Pierre, and we could keep a bunch of slot capable S guys… but right now its a numbers game… the number of the most dbs they will keep is 10 total.
Six are locks
1. Peterson
2. Wallace
3. Porter
4. Minkah
5. Kazee
6. Neal
Of the remaining 4, at least 2 will be slot specialists.
The frontrunners there are
-Norwood, who also is a safety, which is valuable flexibility…
-Sullivan, who they pretty much signed as a slot option
And
-Dawson, who is a practice squad guy with rave reviews from the staff
Of those other two spots if Trice isn’t slot capable ( and he may well be… some draft scouting reports listed him as a safety) he would be competing against Pierre, who is a valuable proven and experienced guy and miles Killibrew..
now Killibrew sounds like an easy out, but again he is a safety and more importantly he is probably the best special teams player we have.
So basically trice has a better shot of not being a PS player year 1 than he did ten days ago… but he is still a long shot. I don’t know if they will be willing to have two rookies both playing the same role as their depth at cb…
One thing you're forgetting that has been mentioned by the coaches and the player himself is that Peterson is slot capable and willing to move around as needed. That lessens the need to keep one of those slot capable safeties. And, it's not like Norwood has been stellar; even with his flexibility.I mean he could beat out Pierre, and we could keep a bunch of slot capable S guys… but right now its a numbers game… the number of the most dbs they will keep is 10 total.

Methinks Pierre will be on the field a lot...Are they gonna roll the dice with Trice or bring in someone in for insurance?
If Norwood comes off the roster, he is going to be replaced by another safety. They aren’t going into the season with just 3 true safeties and killibrew at the position…One thing you're forgetting that has been mentioned by the coaches and the player himself is that Peterson is slot capable and willing to move around as needed. They are giving him a chance to catch on as early as he can somewhereI get cutting him. I dont get cutting him in May
Thanks for the link. Looking at that list, Gunner might be the next casualty, for a cap savings of $2 million.Looking at the numbers on overthecap.com, he carried a $4M base salary this year that was not guaranteed.
