Steelers select Dri Archer in Round 3

I didn't mind the Rainey pick because it was later in the draft and because they had just had a 12-4 season. It was a luxury pick late in the 5th round. Archer is a smaller version of Rainey. Rainey out weights Archer by 15 pounds and has larger hands.

I just don't understand this pick. It's ******* mind boggling how anyone can think Archer has any value at all in the 3rd round. With me it isn't about "need" it's about value. But Archer isn't either. He isn't a need and he sure as hell wasn't the BPA at that spot. It's a pretentious pick and dripping with arrogance.

It was a stupid pick, period. It was not a need. He was not the BPA. Based on how the Steelers say they draft, this pick makes no sense whatsoever.

I do not like it because few players of that size (and I do not mean only height) have the durability to play in the NFL and almost all are WRs. Let someone else blaze that trail. Get away from statistical outliers and start drafting body types that have a higher chance to succeed. Not rocket science.

Exactly. The Steelers don't have the luxury of drafting trail blazing projects in the 3rd round. I could understand it if he were the BPA or a need position. But he isn't either. He is a "Damn that guy is fast" pick. Almost as if they paid no attention to where he would fit on the team. Just makes no sense.

So you guys actually think they took this guy and have no idea what they are going to do with him? Really? It may not work out maybe it does but to think they dont have any idea or plan for him is crazy.

I'm sure they have a plan for him. They had a plan for Rainey, too. Doesn't mean the plan will work, and all recent history suggests it can't/won't.

Thats why they play the game. We will see. Just because something is similar doesnt mean its the same.

That is true. But, I have not found many things that look like a duck, walk like a duck, act like a duck, and it be a damn bulldozer.

Yep cause Rainey and Archer are the exact same.

Well what do you know im glad you guys are always correct. I mean **** yall have nailed the Steelers picks so far.

What does "nailing picks" mean? Predicting who will be picked? What would that have to do with being "correct" about a player being good or now? I don't do that anyway.

People may disagree with you on players sometimes. You don't need to get offended.

I dont know what he will be. Im not predicting anything. Im especially not predicting he will fail because Rainey did.

I don't know what you ******* are whining about - I think it's good a perennial 8-8 team tries to add a little excitement into it's line-up

I'm just saying it'd be nice if we could have the first 8-10 draft picks in the first round every couple of years, you know? I think we could solve a lot of this team's problems that way.

Some of us are predicting him to fail because 100% of similar prospects with similar red flags fail. Rainey is one of many, many examples.

Where in the lineup is he going to play?

He'll be exciting when we play teams whose kickers can't kickoff into the end zone. I can't think of another role.

And i said we will see many posts ago.

Five Wide! He and Bell line up in the backfield on all 1st and 10s and 3rd and 1s and then they both split to the weak side.

This is easy!

Then why respond? Seriously, you don't take a stand one way or the other but blame people on a Steelers message board for disagreeing with a draft pick. What's the point?

Also it's strange the Steeler fans would think this pick is great when we have blasted the Raiders for drafting players based solely on 40 times.
