I've warmed up to the pick and think he has the makings of a great player that can have an impact in multiple roles for this team, correct. I also thought highly of him before the draft, saw him as an electrifying player that made plays up and down the field. Shoot me....you love the pick and think he is a great player.
Wrong, if he was drafted by the Browns, or by any other team for that matter, I'd just hate him. I wouldn't give two ***** about him, just like I do with all players on other teams.Like I said before, if Archer were a clown you'd hate him and make fun of them for taking a smurf RB in the 3d round.

Never let them see you as a hypocrite... too late for that with you but keep trying. Like I said, you people are just a circle jerk click that love anything and anyone black and gold. Regardless of your own pre-draft beliefs you love whatever the Steelers do. Like sheep looking for a shepherd. I'd rather be truthful about my opinion than be a hypocrite.

It's really not that difficult Vader. The draft was back in early May. We're no longer in draft mode, it's okay to file away the spreadsheets, the combine numbers, the highlighter pens. Reality has set in, time passes, players come in, start practicing with their teammates, coaches and players have a chance to see these guys up close. Before you know it, training camp then pre-season will be upon us. Again, the draft is over. There's not much you can do to change how things played out. It's going to be okay. If Archer doesn't pan out, well that will suck for the Steelers. The odds are against him. I'm willing to give him a fighter's chance...You "warmed" up to a guy that hasn't played ONE down in the NFL nor has even been through ONE contact drill? Again, outside of being draft by the Steelers what has he done in the past month to change your mind?
So no, I haven't. You're seeing and hearing things. No problem man, it happens, just wanted to make sure.
All because we said give the kid a chance before we label him too small a bust with absolutely no chance to contribute to this team.
I think Manziel can be a good player that hasnt changed because he plays for the Browns. That was the last place i wanted him to go.

Really nobody has said he has basically no chance???
Show me. The Steelers are going to do everything to give him one. Hell, I've even said at best he is Dexter McCluster. Isn't that a chance?
I understand the value part of it in a way. Like I said when the pick came up i was thinking Bryant or Desir.
As far as what he can do in in the NFL hasnt been determined. He can be a change of pace back. He can run the ball. I think he can run any play any other RB can run. I wouldnt run him on the goaline. Am i going to give him the ball 20 plus times hell no. He can play in the slot. Is he Wes Welker nope. But he can cause issues for the defense lined up there. I think he can reuturn kicks and punts. Yes even though he never done it in college. I could be all weong on this. Why because opinion isnt fact. Just like your opinion or TMC's isnt either.
But would you sit Bell and Blount to give him the ball? Bell is a stud IMHO. Blount is your power back. If he plays the slot then you are putting him inside against bigger defenders. That's why KS used him in the slot to bring him back across the formation and just hand him the ball. Or they'd run him out and swing pass the ball. He really wasn't a slot WR and his coach knew that. He even said they should have kept him at RB. So I don't understand the pick in the 3rd round. Nothing more, nothing less.
What? **** off. You people try to link him to Dexter McCluster and Austin but I can't do the same thing? Yea, he's never played a down. Why don't you people stop comparing him and making asinine links to other players. Typical do as I say not as I do ****.
As much as it pains you I'm going to compare him to whoever the **** I want to. Don't like it? Tough ****. Hypocritical *******.
Can't back what up? That Dri Archer is not Chris Rainey? Would you like me to submit a DNA sample for your crazy ***?
Yes 5-7 times carries a game I give this kid the ball as a RB. Kent used him in variety of ways. But he was best lined up in the backfield. Where ever the hole is he hits it. What was a disservice to him in college maybe a blessing. Which is playing the slot. Now instead of.it being brand new he has some experience at it. He didnt only catch swing passes. He ran patterns. I already said he needs work there. But he shows soft hands to me. If lined up there who is going to cover him a LB or corner? Most LB wont be able to stick him in my opinion. So either your playing zone or covering him with a CB pre snap. I think he maybe able to dictate favorable matchups for himself and others. We will see. Who knows
At least now someone is talking about football. I know it seems like a matchup problem for the defense and it may turnout that way. But he struggled at it in college and will probably struggle at it in the NFL. I think he is a RB only. The problem is going to be placement. Do you trust running him inside in the NFL? If not then teams are going to know he is going to jump everything outside. Every time he touches the ball everybody knows it outside. It's just tough to do in the NFL. Well see and I hope he does well.
Actually I dont if you watch his film he runs quite well inside. Hits it hard. With the ball in his hands diplays great vision and balance. I said he may never be Wes Welker **** he may never be Lance Moore in the slot. But i think he will dictate matchups. Are you going to stay in base and attempt to cover him with a LB or will you bring a safety down. Giving Brown and Wheaton one on one opportunities. Will teams come out in nickel giving Bell and Blount chances to run against smaller defenses?

What LB runs a 4.26 to cover, keep up with, or level Archer out of the backfield?
In the slot how often is that going to happen? He is lined up off the ball. Going in motion. Did this happen alot in college? How often does this happen to other slot players? CBs rarely do what your saying. Bunch formations are used to dictate free releases. One of the reasons teams use them so much. You dont beat press coverage with just strength. Quickness is also an asset.
Indeed, the slot and motion are Archer's bread and butter in the passing game. I just don't see why we needed to gamble for such a dependent contributor the way we did.
So i answer your football question so you go back to value?? Hmmm seems legit
