Steelers select Dri Archer in Round 3

Thank ark for the research.

Being wrong is one thing; we're all wrong all the time. But jumping his **** and calling him a liar when you have no idea what you're talking about.. that's lame.

With all due respect.. that's why it pays to research a little before launching into "You're a liar and just trying to look smart!!" All it took was a search for the word Breeland.

Oh, I thanked Ark first. The same way I thanked you. The apology wasn't for you, and you don't need one. Now you choose to understand my thought processes, and you're not only wrong, but delusional for doing so.

I don't choose to kick a dead horse, let alone an apologetic one that roots for the same team as you. But that's the difference between us I suppose, and that's why you rub people the wrong way.

Oh. So your little tirade was, like, a joke, or a performance art piece? Then that's my bad.

I don't choose to kick a dead horse

In other words, you don't feel you should be called to task for having a fit at someone over an assumption you were dead wrong about. Well, that's not how this thread has worked. I get my **** jumped on when Archer has 2 punt returns for 4 yards in a preseason game, so I guess I feel justified in calling you out. If that offends you, then perhaps "You're a liar! MY side is so gonna win!!" tirades aren't for you.

But that's the difference between us I suppose, and that's why you rub people the wrong way.

Or maybe you guys take me too goddamn seriously. If you're rubbed ANY way by my e-attitude, then I think the issue is with your e-vaginas. Be grown men.

Exactly. The ones with it all figured out are the ones who do no research at all, but **** on those who do. They'd never heard of Dri Archer, but by God, he's gonna be amazing because Steelers. And because Mel Kiper. And because 40 time.

Those who have watched him play, *********. Those who assume any Steelers is dynamite, authority.

Are you saying you watched him play?? Find that hard to believe considering...

Grown men are mature enough to admit mistakes. Zack and I took care of it like men.

You chose to turn it into something it is not. Taking someone to task is something that can be done if both sides are still in opposition. You are not doing that. You're looking for a fight. Not that you haven't done that in numerous threads against numerous SN Members. Even when you are wrong.

And that's the rub...

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Cope again.

Do you have examples of this?

I have to admit, I was as stubborn and argumentative about us picking Daniel Sepulveda back in 2007 as Idioteque is now about Archer.

That's a pick I just wouldn't let die. Even to this day, I am so angry at picking a punter, I think I lose a couple hairs every time I think of it.

Just is what it is. Some picks and philosophies get under your skin and you're not going to back down. You know you are right and nothing is going to change your mind. Ever.

Even if Archer "succeeds" (and no one has every really defined that), there are some here that will never admit it's a good pick because the philosophy and logic behind the selection are fundamentally WRONG to them.

It's like if a professional bass master decided to use a piece of american cheese and a Spongebob rod/reel to try and catch a bass in the biggest tournament of the year. Anyone that fishes professionally knows that's WRONG, but he still could catch the largest bass in the lake. And if he did, that wouldn't change the fact using a piece of american cheese and a kid's rod/reel would be wrong.

That's this place in a nutshell.

Hey, you ******* ravens troll cumstain walking piece of ****, if it's so ******* bad around here, why don't you save the mods the trouble of banning your ***, which I'm surprised hasn't happened yet, and get the **** out.

Joe

LOL. You post this everyday. I've seen ***-kissing, but e-***-kissing?
Yet more lies and exaggeration from dicknocchio. I wait for example of this patiently

I swear to Got you've posted it 50 times. As if you NEED the recipient to know you wanted to give them karma.

And the "wait patiently" shtick.. I don't get it.

I disagree. If he catches the largest bass in the lake with a piece of american cheese and a spongebob rod/reel, that just proves he figured out the best rig to use for that event and should make the cover of Field & Stream.

It wouldn't have been a bad pick if he could have stayed healthy. Never seen a punter end up on IR as much as Sep.

so watcha eating tonight?

I'm going for a fancy fondue on a family reunion

I'm working at the airport tonight. Boston Market frozen chicken and fettuccini alfredo in the microwave.

Prefabricated hamburgers from wall mart, cheapest kind. Onion and green pepper, orange juice. Oh yea, Italian buns

Salute the nation

Speaking of maturity....

Regardless of weather Archer ever comes around and finally produces, we should have taken a DB with this pick. We have needed a DB for years, not some midget gimmick play part timer. So what do we have now? Still lacking on the DB and a gimmick guy that has had his playing time reduced to almost nil. Waste of a pick.

Why this pick? Shazier and Tuitt haven't exactly contributed mightily. I can't help but wonder if Archer was three inches taller and from a bigger program if people wouldn't be a little more patient.

Absolutely I would, because then he would seem closer to an NFL player.

I disagree. If he catches the largest bass in the lake with a piece of american cheese and a spongebob rod/reel, that just proves he figured out the best rig to use for that event and should make the cover of Field & Stream.

And that's the philosophical debate here that is the root of the whole Archer issue.

I completely disagree with you. Catching the biggest bass does not PROVE it was the best rig. Anybody that studies statistics knows that. The sample size is too small.

Those that are against the Archer pick are against ODDS of the pick. They strongly feel the odds of it succeeding are lower than many other options available at that pick.

It doesn't mean Archer is a failure. It doesn't mean Archer is a bad prospect. It doesn't mean every pick after him or every other option has to succeed.

There are some here that look at picks as black/white. Like either you win a hand of black jack or you do not. There are others that look at blackjack as a game you play MANY, MANY times and do things (anything) to try and improve your odds of success.

Some people seem to concentrate on draft picks as individual games of blackjack. There's some skill, but mostly it's luck. You win some, you lose some, move on.

Some people look at draft picks as a GROUP of games of blackjack and the goal is to use all the information available to you to try and improve your chances of success over the GROUP, not just one pick.

For those of us who look at Tomlin/Colbert's "era" of pick and think they have underachieved as a group, a pick like Archer bothers us. If people look at picks under the Tomlin/Colbert era in an individual sense (black/white), they can look at the Archer pick by itself and can be more optimistic about success/failure because it's just one pick of many and most picks don't succeed so who cares. They look at the draft class as a whole and see possible "hits" in Shazier, Tuitt, Bryant and McCullers and say "it's a good draft class and Archer is just icing on the cake".

There are people here that are just ALWAYS going to be on the opposite side of the fence on this issue. ALWAYS.

they have contributed tho. And they don't need special situations to get on the field.

Exactly. We'll never say, "We just need to get Tuitt into space. If we can structure a setup that gets him unblocked in wide-open space, then we can play him in a few sub-packages and hopefully he'll make a play or two." That's because they play every-down positions and are capable of winning one-on-one matchups.
