Steelers sign 15 to the practice squad including Karl Joseph

Unless they plan on making a move soon, the Steelers apparently feel they don't. Haden is long in the tooth and Sutton is still questionable so I'm with you.
Well here is one move they will make. Even though it isn't a corner he could possibly fill an inside spot on D.

Last year:
Haden
Nelson
Hilton
Sutton
Pierre
Layne
Ps- Trajan Bandy

this year
Haden
Sutton
Pierre
Layne

ps Gilbert

I'm surprised Karl Joseph was even eligible for the practice squad...hasnt he been in the league a good 6-7 seasons by now?

Good point, but I think they changed the rules last year that a team can have a maximum of 6 players with 2 or more accrued seasons.

Vets are on PS eligible due to Covid same rules as last year.👊

I just saw that! I was afraid of that!

Same here, but I'm thinking they really like Jamir Jones. Heard his football IQ is off the charts and he's just starting. And he seems to love (and excel at) STs which you know they covet. I would have thought a guy like Roche would have stuck as a developmental guy but I think it has everything to do with Jones.

Think about it his brother was on the Steelers PS then he had the legal troubles with the GF and the Steelers say see ya. Then the brother tries out and skips the PS and finds himself on the final 53. He produced in preseason he earned it. Even then his interview has him saying that could change in two weeks, that he has to keep plugging away. Attack each day as Tommy Tom would say, obviously. Good feel good story on making the roster.

That was probably their plan after signing Ingram, but things changed.

Honestly, I'm not sure whether Roche was more a casualty of having to keep that extra lineman, or the emergence of Jones.

It definitely was not an easy decision for them, as Roche flashed some talent in the preseason.

He wasn't unemployed very long. That's for sure.

They kept 6 ilbs… they typically have 9 or 10 lbs… with 6 ilbs they had to be short an olb… this probably happened because Buddy isn’t ready yet but isn’t worth losing and allen is hurt so they didn’t want to risk losing Gilbert, who had a subpar preseason… I thought they would IR Allen and bring someone in but they haven’t…

Also they only have 15 ps spots filled which leaves them with 1 open… I’d anticipate another DB….
