Steelers Sign a Centter. Your New Steelers Center

I will.be honest. Never heard of the guy. I feel like that would be me making a video of Juju leaving. He's leaving. And most fans know who Juju is. I have no idea who Cole is.
How many offensive lineman have you heard of, would you say? I'm a pretty big NFL fan, and I'd be lucky to name about a dozen outside of Pittsburgh. JuJu is a skill position player, a fantasy monster a few years back. Of course people know who he is.

Just like signing Chuks, this is just a guy. Neither improve the OL. This guy will be competing for a starting job and is not a "legit" starter (not pro-bowler but legit starter) we desperately need. Our OL has not gotten better at all. I sure hope they still plan on bringing in a "legit" starter. They easily could have afforded one for what they gave Chuks and this scrub. I hope they both work out but come on, man! Other than QB, the OL was your biggest position of need and it is the same old, same old.

Depending on the structure of these deals we might be close to the cap soon… its hard to bury money on 2 and 3 year deals lol
The Steelers can still cut Schobert and Banner to free up another $14M if needed.

And they can and should cut Tuitt. The only way Schobert and Banner are back is if they take large pay cuts.

I disagree. He will help create running room for Najee. He doesn't need to be a pro bowler, he just needs to upgrade one position. I think he does that.

RIGHT.
TACKLE.

For crying out loud, Chukwuka Okorafor is not a good tackle. At all. His pass blocking is mediocre, but his run blocking is awful. PFF ranks him 50th in offensive tackles. 50th.

Out of 64 full-time starters. He is 50th.

Drink, as a good man that you are and to have a very long life, for the love of God pay no attention to anything from PFF. Actual players are laughing at PFF content. Ramon Foster has even said flipping heads or tails on a coin will give you a better percentage of being right than what PFF evaluators publish.

If there was a holder for the infamous RED HOT POKER, Collingsworth office chair at PFF’s headquarters is the place.

Is he an improvement? His ceiling, like Chuks, is pretty much maxed out and he is one of the worst centers in the league. Green is going to improve in his 1st offseason. This guy is no better than Hausenfeffer (or however you spell his name) and may not be better than Green. They still have not signed a "legit" OL starter. I know it's early but they had the money this year to make some moves and they sign Chuks and this dude.

Not every signing has to be a pro bowl player for pete sake. This is a solid signing and will help this OL.
And as I've said countless times for months, I am not looking for pro bowlers but "legit" starters. This guy and even Chuks should be depth pieces and not who you are looking to build your OL around. These 2 signings do not improve the OL whatsoever. They could have just resigned Turner. Based on how Chuks has played, I see no way he gets past the 1st year of this contract. He will have to improve significantly or they will have to cut him and sign a legitimate improvement at the position. Hopefully, they will still sign at least one "legit" starting OL to improve and stabilize the **** OL we have and then draft another in the 1st or 2nd round. I know it's early but so far they have done nothing to. improve the OL.

I think you will find he is an upgrade to Haus. Not sure what you are basing your opinion on but I haven't found anything to make me think he isn't an upgrade in regards to the run. I guess we shall see but not going to stamp him negatively ...yet.

I don't agree with this at all. I think these signings do improve the OL and Chuks who is still young, still can elevate his game to be a solid RT, not a great player or even a pro bowler, but a solid player on this OL is what I'm looking for. Mason Cole is a good player who can play both C and G and the Steelers love that about an OL. Neither is a great player buy thats not what we need. We need solid OL and we're getting that now. just signed G James Daniels who can play RF and LG and will be solid for this OL. The team is moving in the right direction.
