Steelers sign Patrick Peterson

Ex pro bowler last one being 4 years ago. Let's not inflate the signing.

Any-who not sure why anyone would be fond of losing Sutton. He was a solid multi positional player. So naturally there will be some vent time.
It's frustrating because it was another player they drafted, developed, but then didn't sign long term. The 2017 class included: Watt, JuJu, Sutton, Conner, and Dobbs. All four of those guys should still be on the roster and the foundation of this team.

I disagree, 8 million is too much for a backup, they could find a guy for 4-5 million a year who could give you a chance to win a couple of spot starts, I don't care what team we're talking about if the QB1 goes down for the long term it's season over, if the goal is to win titles you don't spend 8 million a year on a backup QB that can't get you to a championship

What would say…….. a mediocre team, one that has been known to finish with a non-losing season be willing to pay their #2 QB ???

Ben says "hi"...

I don't follow, please explain.

I hope you're not saying that because Ben was 2nd string to Maddox at the start of his rookie year and balled out when he got in, then became a HOF QB, means Trubisky is capable of that or remotely comparable to Ben

If Peterson is healthy and doesn't lose a step he will be more than adequate. He just isn't a long term solution.

Beats the hell out of Jackson III.

Makes you wonder if the Jackson 3 debacle affected the loss of Sutton. They couldn't have been more than 2 million apart per year.
If Sutton meant that much to them, they could have restructured Watt or Minkah. Or extended Cam (hell, even Trubisky). They had moves to make if they really wanted to pay to keep Sutton.

how much room we have to target a MLB or re sign Gentry, no point in signing Wormley since he wont be ready till oct or nov

Ok. But if they had 2.75m on the table that easily covers this year with Sutton and you don't need a restructure anyone.

Cheap enough and looking deeper, this seems to be a good signing.

To be clear, Sutton wasn’t a good let go.

Considering he played for 4 million last year I think we overpaid. I guess we got a known commodity but I think he’s lost a few steps. Maybe they plan on moving him to safety. Idk I’m 🤷‍♂️ on this signing

Stay with me…

I responded with my comment because the statement was ‘the season is over if we lose our starting QB’…

Does this now make sense to you???

Just in case it doesn’t—when Ben went down with the elbow injury. The season wasn’t lost.

I wonder when you sign a player like Peters if he does any physical testing beforehand? Like if his numbers are still good why can't he play?
