Probably because having Ben’s contract on the books prevented it. Plus the cap wasn’t as near a slush fund as it is now,
 
DK also gets mad when the ball doesn't come his way early, runs bad routes etc. This is a complete circus on wheels.

Unless.....we can get another 9 and 8 season from him......Rooney will be jumping for joy!!!!. Might even extend Tomlin another few seasons.

I was told on here you never take a RB in round 1. Heck. Warren wasn't even drafted. Probably can pick up another udfa to complement him. Save that 1st rounder for an important position.

I truly think a real offense alone will go a long way towards fixing the defense. I really do.

I was a believer in that to a degree but have started to change my mind. But only for a true top RB that can be a game breaker. They have to have visio and be a threat to take it to the house on any run.

Meh.....our passive D giving up 12 play drives for TDs.....nope. We play a bend but don't break. Limit the quit strikes. Give them everything underneath defense. Well they take everything underneath. They take what we give them. And they nickel and dime us the entire length of the field while Tomlin HOPES for a TO
....or a missed play for a stop. Instead of our D going out and actually stopping them. Ten plus years this D has failed. Time to move on from it.
 
So what do we do with Pickens now? Pay him also? Doubtful though. How disgruntled will he be this season? Both the same type of WR? Kind of. Do we move him? Then we are where we were last season minus a QB at the moment. Maybe Omar has a plan. Maybe he is just winging it. I guess we will find out sooner rather than later.

I do know if I was Pickens I wouldn't be a happy camper. Almost/kind of like when we brought in Russ last season. It upset Pickett.

It is like we don't know how to build a franchise now. Meh. Maybe I am reading this all wrong.
