Steelers trade for DK

So what do we do with Pickens now? Pay him also? Doubtful though. How disgruntled will he be this season? Both the same type of WR? Kind of. Do we move him? Then we are where we were last season minus a QB at the moment. Maybe Omar has a plan. Maybe he is just winging it. I guess we will find out sooner rather than later.

I do know if I was Pickens I wouldn't be a happy camper. Almost/kind of like when we brought in Russ last season. It upset Pickett.

It is like we don't know how to build a franchise now. Meh. Maybe I am reading this all wrong.
You are reading this wrong.

DK signing makes our WR top tier now...very attractive for a good QB to sign/keep here now...

I like winning.

These guys will be fine if they win.
Yep....Tomlin will let them do what ever they want as long as the Ws follow. It is when the Ls pile up and Tomlin is at a loss on what to do is when we are in trouble. History shows us this sadly.

It really doesn't matter how I read this. Or you read this....but how Pickens will. History (in my opinion)says he won't be a happy camper. And that my friend will be an issue next season.

A proven player.

Now to get the QB to throw to him…………………..

One that we pay market value or better. Personally, I'd sign Justin to a multi-year contract...

My numbers seem to keep climbing……….

Minimum 3/4 yrs, 22-28 mil, 55-70% guaranteed.

Might take 4 yrs / 30mil / 70% guaranteed, do you pull this trigger………….?

Remember he has an agent that is out there……!

I think you're reading it wrong. Look at the dolphins or the Bengals, Chase about to get paid, I'm sure they are trying to sign Higgins long term. The dolphins have both Hill and Waddle. And I also think Pickens is happy, he won't get the constant double teams now. I love the move, I just hope it doesn't mean Dart in the first...

I'll admit this trade completely caught me off guard. I would have bet about anything the Steelers would not have traded a high round draft pick and committed that much money at the WR position. Especially, considering the team doesn't have a signed QB. I wonder if this makes it more likely the team signs Wilson now?

To me, this move doesn't make a lot of sense unless ownership plans to force Tomlin to give up control on the offensive side. Otherwise, all the team will have is an expensive disgruntled player getting about 6 targets a game and 50-70 yards for 33 million a year.

I don't think the team is a DK away from the Super Bowl. This feels like not wanting to miss out on everyone decent like last year. I hope my initial concerns are proven to be nothing to worry about. Hopefully, he will get more snaps compared to Williams last season after trading for him and Tomlin not playing him.

Yep. Everything we have seen from Pickens screams I am seeing this wrong. . Ok. Really? Hell. We don't even have a qb yet. Or possibly a number 1 RB. Or a system that schematicly employs 2 WRs that gets the ball into their hands. Meh...we will see how it all unfolds soon enough. I hope you are right and Pickens is jumping for joy in his living room right now.

Good news for you. You don't make a goofball move like this to hope you get sloppy thirds in a poor first round QB class. They are gonna have a veteran maybe Darnold in place by this week. The Tomlinship is in the grasp.

It5’s a good move sans QB. QB should have come first, but now it’s a wait and see. Can Justin utilize here two outstanding WRs, I think so provided Coach Tomlin can stand back. Art Smith is going to have to be a little creative as well.

The wait and see will be the hard part, so I’m not jumping off the bridge or eating Ic e cream yet.

You simply are just guessing at this point. Or hoping. No one on this board has an inkling what Fields might/will get. If Steelers truly wanted him they dropped the ball at this point. My GUESS is that they low balled him. He opted to test the market. Smart of him or his agent. Our front office set themselves up for this scenerio. No qb going into 2025. Laughable actually.

How is it s good move. Have you watched this guy play. He's Pickens with big muscles. The Seahawks are rolling on the ground laughing the Steelers took him off their hands. A second no less. This is a ****** Browns move.

I don’t have a lock on any numbers, I’m just putting it out there to see the consensus of where we may end up.

I do know that the more3 desperate a team becomes the highe3r the price gets.

Justin will definitely go out and see what the open market value is for him and I think he will give the STEELERS a chance to match or just up it a little.

Either way, the Steelers have NO lock on Justin Fields, but I’d hope they have some kind of PRO-action plan instead of just a RE-action plan. That’s what got us here to begin with, re-action.

Can’t change anything now, so like I’m saying……. It’s a wait and see NOW.

I can only hope for the best. It’s a start, albeit from the back to the front.

2nd round seems kinda high but oh well. Thought the Steelers could go DT round 1, WR round 2 and get a guy like Ayomanor. No headcase issues, lot cheaper for longer.

Also, I get that Tomlin does not like rookie QB's but now getting a quality guy in the 1st means an affordable, quality QB for 5 seasons. Do that, you can afford prima donna WR's.

Jaxson Dart it is.

Oh, and I guess sign a quality DT as a free agent. And a quality backup OT.

Im just saying wait and see the gong show this is gonna be. Let's throw in Aaron Rogers for good measure. He can take Rodman and Pickass on a psychedelic drug adventure.

Colbert and Cowher are rolling over in their graves and they aren't even ****** dead. Why wouldn't you use the 150 million on the Q. And draft a sane Metcalf in round 1. Only good thing about this move it will get Tomlin out quicker.
What QB are you overpaying for the sake of spending on a QB?

Drink, your second sentence got me thinking. Maaaaayyybe that’s already been taken care of but “legal” tampering doesn’t begin until tomorrow…..

Yeah, I'm really surprised the Steelers gave up a 2nd. I would much prefer Deebo Samuel for a 5th, for example, or Cooper Kupp for a 3rd. Those guys have a very different skill set than Pickens, work the middle of the field, are very good route runners - things that are not strengths for Pickens at this point.

Ehh, grown men wearing PJ's and chasing a ball. Can't get too worked up about this stuff.
