Steelers V Panthers game thread

this has been a relatively vanilla preseason... I love that... I dont want quality of plays to determine roster spots...I want to see how guys play based on talent and basic mental abilities... gameplanning just enhances that

i understand the reasoning behind staying vanilla because you don;t want to show your hand and you don't want to make guys artificially look good because you schemed up an easy play for them. But you also have to balance that with practicing what you plan to do when it counts.

The Steelers are installing a new offense. I get not wanting to show it all but they should be doing a bit more than the almost zero they are doing.

Ben ran a couple series and it looked fine...

Wins and losses are less important than finding the best talents in the preseason
Fair enough. Ben ran it great and the offense looked fantastic. But any time the Steelers suck *** in the preseason it's because they are playing vanilla not showing anything. It's tired.

I mean Cowher used to run straight vanilla all preseason and sometimes they looked great... but his scheme on offense was also heavily based on manhandling teams

It feels like I'm watching a game from 1984
Good Lord man....We actually had some pretty decent players in 84..They were just either old or really young.. And they were not used properly. How about the 86 Steelers with Lupe Sanchez?

That's the difference. Under Cowher, vanilla was the offense. By all accounts, Canada wants to do a lot of play action and motions. That stuff takes practice to get the timing right and we've seen almost none of it.

The only thing that is encouraging is that the best defense the offense faces is in practice each day. So maybe they feel that they are getting enough work in the closed practices Still, i think they should be doing a bit more in these games.

I doubt Canada's offense is so unique that it will take the league by storm with it's genius. I'd rather see some more weight given to perfect execution rather that surprise plays.

Are you in this world or your spirit world ?

Live or VIA satilite ?

Commercial free.....................?

Salute the nation

this season has the opposite feeling of last year where we started fast and faded... i think the first 4 games might be rough but we will rally down the stretch

Injuries at the end of the final preseason game are 95% attempts to get an injury settlement before getting cut lol

with the poor performance by sexton and Ray Ray, could Switzer be coming back to town?

Was hard to watch, not sure many stood out. Sure hope someone steps up and improves in this secondary. The O line sure was suspect all night, Ben probably on the sidelines thinkin O ****.

Lupe would have rocked the NFL world if it had not been for the incident with that llama.

Why? He ******* sucked
it's like the old joke. I don;t have to outrun the bear, i just have to outrun you. Switzer just has to be better than Ray Ray and Sexton. Steelers may trust him more.

I wouldn't be surprised if the steelers grab a WR off waivers.
