Steelers vs. Raiders - Week 3 Game Day Thread

And because the officials extended the Raiders series.
so so true. That call on Minkah was simply a gift from the NFL to LV. Even the ref in the booth said it was no foul.

I didnt think the leverage call was right, but the booth ref seemed pretty confident on that one.

This game should not have been this close. Refs/NFL wanted a game to draw and hold the ratings down to the end and they made it happen.

But still, Canada has got to go. We need a real live NFL OC. Not a glorified highschool, college OC.

Poor Najee, he got beat up all night because of the blocking schemes, or should I say the not blocking schemes. I bet he is so sore tomorrow. That OLine is not great.

btw ... Najee ran for 3.4 ypc. Warren? 3.6 ypc. Warren is a nice little change of pace back.

#1 thing you have to do for a young QB is make things identifiable. When they go tight sets and let's be real Muth is a big receiver it can come from everywhere. When they give him a half field with run options. And let's get real Lamar was MVP and has a gazillion dollar contract and is making 1.5 reads. It's just better. Same as the run. If they are going to be mugged up and a 7 man front. No. No you cannot run.

The OL is terrible but they did show signs they might be changing schemes and that will hopefully help moving forward.

The officials were horrendously in favor of the Raiders. From the 2 obvious clubbings to the head of KP in the first half to the entire 4th quarter when they had the bogus call on Minkah and refused to call any of the obvious holding calls on the Raiders OL. The officials are the main reason the game became a game in the 4th quarter.

Our coaching sucks for sure. But when the offense has performed as they have the first 2 1/2 games there's really no reason to believe they are suddenly going to move the ball 35 yards in 30 seconds to have a FG attempt. There's a lot better chance of a turnover that would completely turn the game around.

If there was a little more time I would have considered being aggressive.
Sorry, one can “what if” all day long, the bottom line is non-aggressive gets us to where we are.

Sure a bad thing can happen but if you look at it that way, you might as well punt on first down.

I saw that too.

And therein lies the problem. Not Najee v Warren. Just bad blocking.

Don’t forget to add in the telegraph play calling.

For whatever reason the play mix with Warren in is a whole lot more well, mixed. With Najee it is almost always run and they never seem to throw to him anymore. I just don't understand why the **** the bed so badly in using Najee. It's like they forget what he did in the passing game his rookie year. It would be huge in loosening up the stacked defenses.

This ^^ When the defense has 7 or 8 in the box, and the offense has just 6 guys to block, a running play is doomed to failure. In that format, either Pickens or Austin III or likely both are single covered. Send one Austin on a short crossing pattern that takes very little time to run, Kenny gets the ball out fast, Austin now is running in the secondary with maybe one defender available to bring him down.

Punish teams for putting 8 in the box. Stop ******* running up the A-gap and expecting Najee Harris to break 11 tackles to gain 4 yards.
