On the kick coverage unit, I understand why teams kick short because they can get stops inside the 25. However, when your coverage unit is so poor, just have Boswell put it through the end zone. I can't wait when we cut more talented players to keep marginal special teams guys to still hold on kick returns and allow 30-yard returns.

Winners...Steelers
Losers....Lions

It didn't look bad and I hope it's not bad but seeing TJ Watt & Dionte Johnson in there late in the first half when the goal is to keep them healthy then seeing both guys go down with minor injuries was disturbing to say the least. Tomlin said they both could have gone back in if it was a Regular Season game situation as their bumps and buises were minor. Kazee's inury however appears to be some type of break in his wrist....that is not good at all as he would see action in nickel and dime packages. I saw nothing from Hamilar Rashad Jr at OLB.....we are so thin on the OLB position...perhaps he makes the team but at this point we might be better off signing 44 years old James Harrison for spot duty at OLB. The O-line specifically Dan Moore, Kendrick Green & James Daniels look really pathetic out there. I thought Kevin Dotson showed a little better today than last week but that's not saying much. Dan Moore as our starting LT is going to get one of our QB's destroyed at some point this season. The Steelers really need to draft an anchor starting LT next season. Heck they might even want to look at bring Big Al back at LT for a season. He's only 33 years old and he's sure of a heck of a lot better than Dan Moore. Some might think Devin Bush had a good game.....THINK AGAIN! He had one play and I've watched it several times....the RB ran right into him and knocked him down and the RB fell down as a result of the collision but Bush got the worst of that exchange. Bush really is terrible.....that was evident on the 3rd & 18 Draw Handoff as Bush was easily blocked by the backup TE and the RB ran 24 yds for a first down. Bush's inability to even fight off the block of a back up TE was just pathetic! Jaylen Warren is a good looking young RB....I think he has made this team but only time will tell. I also like Stephen Sims over Myles Boykin but Boykin is a better Special Teams player so he probably has an edge there. Tyler Vaughn hopefully makes the practice squad. Demarvin Leal has looked good in his time in there....I think we have good depth on the DL but Isiah Loudermilk has been MIA this summer....except for a couple plays. Not sure if he's hurt of not but he looked good last season.

I'm not as optimistic on Trubisky as most people....I just think he's a guy and you will see below the line play from Trubisky once the season begins! I say he starts 5 games tops! This is Kenny PIckett's team now! Minkah Fitzpatrick looks to be in mid-season form.....how this kid isn't on the NFL's Top 100 Players list is beyond me. Cam Heyward also looks great too....I think he batter 2 passes tonight.

I see alot of potential with this team.....I think they are a borderline playoff team. At least 8 or 9 win team but perhaps throughout the season they improve....I can see them winning 11 games possibly. Provided they stay healthy and don't suffer any big injuries on Defense.

I think the Oline will improve the more they play together. Not excusing any poor play mind you. Depending on how long Kaz is out the Steelers might need to sign a S. So much for moving Edmunds closer. Leal will be a solid rotation and eventual starter. By the looks of it the Steelers will get three starters from this draft at least.

I'm not defending Bush and his abysmal display this preseason but that third and whatever play, he was dropping back by design to stop the pass completion from a first down. Yea he got completely screened by the tight end but it was the least of my issues with that guy.

It seems like Johnson is ready for a really good season, they're running him deep down the sidelines as well as his elusiveness over the middle. His short exposure this preseason has me excited, if only the OL will give time to let him loose.

I have to believe the front office and coaching staff understands that we may need to give up value to gain at least one OL and claim another. They're abysmal and it will destroy any chance of a playoff contention. I don't mean a package deal of Rudolph and Snell lol. They will not get us a worthy starting OL.

The only way the Oline could improve is by firing Matt Canada.

Canada will not stop calling gadget-motion plays and traps. These linemen are ill-suited for holding blocks straight-on like that. How can Steeler's coaching staff not come to this epiphany? round peg --> square hole.

The only hope is that a new offensive coordinator will install Denver's outside-zone running game.

Agreed. Something about the pass placement, anticipation, reading D coverage, etc. Really impressed by him.

I thought Daniels looked a bit better tonight. And I'm glad they're going with Dotson as the starter. At least he's flashed some ability in the past; Green has shown nothing at either center or guard.

I cannot understand why they run the jet sweep to the short side of the field. Saw it a couple of times tonight.

it's a real testament to the Steeler's coaching staff that the team signed a highly-ranked interior lineman only to see him suck **** in all three preseason games.

You wouldn't think playing on the Bears' line and then moving to the Steelers' would be a large step down but...

I wont be surprised if they move more inside. Put Chukes back at LT. And use Haeg at right.
That's what they should do -- but I'd be more surprised if they actually did it.

I think the skill guys on offense are good enough. I think the dline secondary and at least two of the linebackers are well above the line. The offensive line is abysmal and the fact that Devin Bush will not only make this team but will start really tells me a lot. I've never seen anything like that.

I commented to my dad during the game that Bush's one "splash play" is going to earn him the starting job from Tomlin. Just watch.

Um a bunch of our first rounders got the same treatment until their contract was up…

Bush is a guy who is in the right area but doesn’t always make a play… hardly ever really.. he cant shed a block… he doesn’t excel in coverage…

Uncle Jarvis did not have the speed nor strength to play a rush or boundary end. He just didn't have the skills set. He is the closest. Unless Devin Bush is forced to blitz his gap he makes little to no attempt to fill. He is an NFL inside linebacker. No I've never seen that. If he started the entire season I bet he would have less than 10 tackles inside 4 yards from the LOS. And that is not hyperbole.

Thing is - it can work.

If you have a diversion where interior linemen push and seal 1 or 2 LBers, the runner can catch the edge and the DBs are on the back-foot. But you have to get guys who can envelope and engage and hold it for a 2-count. That's not these OL.

I had not done any research when they signed Daniels, I bought into some hype w/ people saying he could run-block very well. After the f*cking meltdown with Green getting his assh*le pushed everywhere last season, it makes you really wonder WTF Mike Tomlin and Matt Canada know about football?!
Are the Steelers trying to mismatch their offense out of some f*cked-up ego trip?

Its the technical conversation… its hard to go from one scheme to a completely new one… its how teams get stuck in that cycle where they keep sucking at a position just long enough to get the coach fired, then the new one plays a different style and the players all try to relearn the system which resets their development… which gets that coach fired… rinse, repeat…

Thats the entire issue with daniels right now… saw a breakdown of green where when his technique is solid he is fine, the second he mistimes a punch he is instantly defeated though..

Moore just isn’t getting the concept at all of how to stop a speed rush around the edge… but he would be fine in the interior… chuks looks like the best olinemen because he picked up the new system the fastest..

If you were trying to build THE PERFECT offensive line to make Najee Harris into the next coming of Terrell Davis, these guys are the OL you would assemble. These guys are quick, under-sized, athletic, not much load in *** and they have experience washing out big LBer f*ckers in pursuit.

Why in the world would you have them running the old Faneca inside-trap?

No reason at all unless you wanted to get your *** whooped.

i agree with this on all points.

Time for a system that actually matches the line's strength instead of viciously highlighting their weaknesses.

Sure, it can work, if it's executed properly, and called against the right defensive alignment. As we've seen, those are two BIG asks from this offensive line and their offensive coordinator.

Man, folks really pound on the bubble gum guy. But under him ST haven’t given up a kickoff or punt return TD in ten years. ST coaching is one of the toughest jobs in the biz, so is told by the Jimmie Johnsons and Joe Gibbs of the league. They get 2nd/3rd team players to basically fill out their squad, with a sprinkle of 1st string players. I’d take no TDs in a decade than having an opponent avg starting point at the twenty any day.

Elijah Riley impressed me. Looks like a find and probably Kazee’s replacement until he returns.

and that splash play was a 4th and 1 ? and they all had assigned gaps. He filled his back side gap untouched.... smh
