Steelers Winners And Losers Of 3rd And Final Preseason Game

Winners:

Mitch-for survival behind one of the worst OL’s in history and ran a solid 2 minute O

KP- another solid outing

Naj-for survival of a game he shouldn’t have even played in to begin with

Muth and DJ- looking ready

Boswell-steady and reliable

Losers:

Tomlin-for assembly of the biggest POS OL I’ve ever witnessed making watching games absolutely painful, and for signing a complete piece of crap to coach em up

The soft middle that is our run D

The third and long “defenses” which were quite offensive to watch

CA3- can’t make the club from the tub

On the kick coverage unit, I understand why teams kick short because they can get stops inside the 25. However, when your coverage unit is so poor, just have Boswell put it through the end zone. I can't wait when we cut more talented players to keep marginal special teams guys to still hold on kick returns and allow 30-yard returns.

Ditto...you saved me a bunch of typing. OLine is so bad even Najee can't do his thing. Looked like he was hitting a brick wall.

On a positive note, I thought Kenny looked quite composed and comfortable despite the POS line. And his throws were quick and looked like NFL starting caliber this early in his career. I was really impressed with him.
 
Time Bush is gone along with Green. This OL will cost us games with the penalties and just poor blocking skills on runs and be bull rushed back into the QB on pass plays. Two games this was a glaring weakness. Let's hope we never see this officiating crew all year, seen this crew three games and all they did was throw the flags.

I replayed that play because i wanted to see the rare occasion that made a good play. Guess what. He didn't. He came through completely untouched and had a clean shot at the RB. He took a bad angle and the RB ran by him. Bush had to lunge back to try to grab him. Jack hit him head on in the hole and stuffed him. Only after Jack made the hit, did Bush grab an ankle.

If Jack had not been there, the RB picks up that first down easily. If that was Jack, Edwards, Minkah, Spillane, etc that came through unblocked, that would have been a 3 yard loss.

We get ultra conservative, also known as “living in our fears” just keep bringing what got ya to 3rd and long and if you fail ya fail, but the ultra conservative crap doesn’t work for us…you’re right it’s been like that too long.

Cool Shades obviously not practicing what he preaches and should have his eyelids cut off cuz he is blinking in this regard…let’s get back to defending every blade of grass and what not

As much as I dislike the crew Moore could’ve been called almost every damn play and the ones they called on him were justified…is all that suck at LG rubbing off on him?

It was like that even before Tomlin. I can remember yelling at the Cowher about why his team always gave up third and long.

I don't mind Danny Smith. I actually think he's a pretty good special teams coach. That still doesn't mean he doesn't take some unnecessary risks on certain kickoffs and the Steelers draft too many marginal talent guys on day three who only have upside on special teams.

That's the one. And the guy probably still gets the first down had Jack not been there to stand him up. Which reminds me, Miles Jack has really impressed me so far.

I wasn’t trying to compare him to Cowher, just against his own words (the crap that he spews-the hypocrisy)

“We don’t live in our own fears” -total BS if it’s 3rd down we sure do

But if comparing to Cowher I will say this- Cowher teams sure didn’t squander away leads late in games…he had a helluva record in that regard.
