One of the best endings to game that I’ve ever seen. Wife and I sat here saying “no way.” Awesome finish. What an end to the Commanders game.

Yamaha 2 stroke 15 on a 10 foot RIB with a small racor, REC90, new fuel hose, old bulb, new plugs and clean carb. Both plugs are getting spark. (Ask me how I know). Fuel filter is clear. What size motor & 4-stroke or 2-stroke?

Have you checked in on him?My brother in law is.
Any luck squeezing the primer bulb when it bogs down? If it's collapsed, you have a vent issue. If it helps, check the fuel pump.Yamaha 2 stroke 15 on a 10 foot RIB with a small racor, REC90, new fuel hose, old bulb, new plugs and clean carb. Both plugs are getting spark. (Ask me how I know). I can idle along all day but half the time I can't plane. Motor bogs down but doesn't stall. Typically get out of the hole quickly and hit 19 knots if I'm alone with 3 gallons of fuel. I weigh 210. Motor weighs about 75 and the RIB about 250
Likely a fuel issue and possibly an intermittent coil issue. I'm going to test resistance on the coils tomorrow and put in a new 9.259P prop.
I smell like fuel & watched maybe 5 minutes of the clowns game. Great Sunday!
Bulb is harder than a redneck at a family reunion.Any luck squeezing the primer bulb when it bogs down? If it's collapsed, you have a vent issue. If it helps, check the fuel pump.
You can't beat a Yamaha outboard. I used to work on them all the time and 9 times out of ten it was due to non use.
Since you have new fuel line you might go ahead and replace the primer bulb, at least then you know it's good to go. I've also seen where the fuel lines between the fuel filter, pump and carb collapsed.
I'd also check the fuel pump diaphragms. If they are old, it wouldn't hurt to go ahead and replace them anyway.
If you didn't remove the jets, I'd highly recommend it. I have seen jets that look clear but they essentially had arteriosclerosis. The fuel deposits simply accumulated over time and I actually had to take a wire and ream it out. Carb cleaner wouldn't touch it. Afterwards the fuel flow was back to normal and ran like the proverbial scalded dog.
Good luck!
It’s pouring for the game in Seattle. Tom Brady’s Pulitzer Prize winning commentary…..there’s a close up picture of a wet football. He zero’s in on a spot on the football and tells the audience how wet the ball is and how as a nfl QB he always asked them to towel off the football. And then says the same thing after a couple plays. Absolutely Brilliant. Good Lord

Compression is ok when hot?Bulb is harder than a redneck at a family reunion.
Jets were clear but I didn't ream them out. Diaphragm was in good shape but I'll order new one and some fuel line for carb & filter. I use her every day, that's all I do when I'm not working. Can't go wrong on the water.
Thanks, I'll let you know what happens this week. Tomorrow will remove lower unit and replace water pump also. Then back to the fuel issue.Sounds like you are on the right track, coils could easily be bad on top-end. I’m no mechanic, but I had a 7hp 4stroke give me problems and that was the culprit.
Good luck and let me know the outcome if you can remember to.

Damn...that is 65 yards in the air to win it

Sounds great. I definitely miss working on boats. Thanks, I'll let you know what happens this week. Tomorrow will remove lower unit and replace water pump also. Then back to the fuel issue.
I didn't bother checking compression because she runs great half the time. I think you're right about the fuel line and the bulb. So I'm going to rebuild the fuel pump and replace the water pump and replace the bulb. I love these Yamaha two-strokes but can't buy them in the US anymore. Bahamas is nearest place to meCompression is ok when hot?
Did this issue suddenly crop up?
FWIW, I had something similar on my 200 HP Optimax. It ran great at idle and would come out of the hole no problem but bog down soon after.
I was thinking one of the injectors was starting to fail or I had a coil breaking down. I initially was thinking it was something more complex because I knew the fuel line and bulb were only a couple years old but I didn't install it. I paid someone to do it because I didn't have time to do it myself.
I went ahead and replaced the fuel line and bulb and that was it. Whoever installed it didn't route it correctly and eventually it caved in where there was a bend thus restricting the fuel and caused it to bog down. I know you mentioned the fuel line is new but before digging too deep make sure you cover the basics first. I'd replace the bulb before the fuel pump. Who knows maybe the check valve in it is fubar.
I did have a project boat about 10 years ago with a 225 HP Yamaha 2 stroke. It had sat for years so that was a no brainer, all new lines, inside and out, cleaned the carbs, new fuel pumps, new external test tank. That felt great hearing that engine come back to life.
He is crushing it. They've been bad for 40 years and finally have a winning team again. Tenekenr John RigginsWashington's QB seems to be a really grounded guy. Seems to have a really even keel. That's a great quality in a leader. Hard to believe he's a rookie
I had a Mercury 150 HP XR2 that gave me fits with bogging and loading up on fuel at idle and I finally figured out it was the fuel pump diaphragm with a pinhole or tear. Outboards can give you fits and then you're like "why didn't I think of that first?"Any luck squeezing the primer bulb when it bogs down? If it's collapsed, you have a vent issue. They're practically bulletproof so long as they don't overheat or have oiling issues. Does yours have oil injection or do you premix? I still have a 1990 30 hp Suzuki on a 79 13' Whaler. That sob keeps going and going but I'm thinking about bypassing the oil injection and just premix. I'd hate to lose it at this point due to a failure of the oil pump, etcI didn't bother checking compression because she runs great half the time. When working on engines with fuel problems, it was always a relief to see a little tear in the diagram. Easy fix.I had a Mercury 150 HP XR2 that gave me fits with bogging and loading up on fuel at idle and I finally figured out it was the fuel pump diaphragm with a pinhole or tear. I've had that '87 XR2 V6 on a 2001 Larson 21 footer with a manual jackplate for the past 12 years and rarely any problems so I'm a big fan of those although I'm sure I'd love the Yamahas of any year. Mercs are just cold natured trying to start though lol.
