Talk about LeVeon Bell in one place

Isn't this on the same lines of, what would I do if I hit the lottery? My 8-5 *** can't fathom that much money.

I'd donate half of it to charity and not want a tax write-off.

It's amazing Bell forfeits over $850,000 every week he is absent. That is more money than a lot of people make in a lifetime. What a greedy human being!

I'd get lap dances. Lots, and lots of lap dances. And maybe a porn star experience.

See.. I’m tired of Le’Veon’s antics too. But let’s be real. Football players are not us, and it’s silly to judge them as if they were. No matter where we are in life, we compare ourselves to our peers. And the free market has determined what football players are worth. It is silly not to try to maximize your earnings, no matter who you are, because some people who do something different than you wish they made the money you did.

People in the slums in 3rd world countries who make pennies a day would love to take home your paycheck. Does that mean you should sit down and shut up if you think you’re not getting your due?

Of course that being said, in this case, I still think the Steelers were fair to Le’Veon and he’s just being petty and greedy at this point, but come on. Enough with this “I’d love to make what he makes” stuff

I agree with all but the last paragraph, if I'm sure another company in St Pete would pay me 1.5 what I make now with a big signing bonus, I wouldn't want to work for my current company. Neither would any of us.

The only thing I disagree with on the last paragraph is with the word "fair" or "greedy" it is that the whole issue, IMO, was the guaranteed money. The fact that the total contract was for a ton of $$ is irrelevant. If the Steelers offered $30m guaranteed, he already gets half of that this year. Assuming he doesn't get injured, he might not make $15m/year on the next contract, it is reasonable to assume his guarantees will be pretty high, in the neighborhood of $40m, but, maybe as low as $30m again. He is gambling on himself, again. Sing this year's contract for $30m guaranteed or don't, get $14.something this year and get a guaranteed $30m next year. That is, again, completely depending on his performance and no injury, $45m guaranteed.

What good is a $70m contract when you may not see the portion of it you want? if my company gave me a $70m contract, but only agreed to pay me my 2x my current wage for the first four years and a big bonus at the end of year 5, knowing that, in year's 4 and 5 they can cut me with little consequence, is that, really, a $70m contract? No. I'm, definitely, not going to see that big payday at the end, and I am, with reasonable probability, not going to see year 4. Especially, if I know I could get a better contract next year?

He knows that he has to stay clean and not fail a drug test and he knows he has to perform.

Missing game day checks and pissing off his OL, doesn't make any sense, though. His OL and other players had been vocal about their support and he let them down. Missing games also does not show he can perform on the field all year, too, and I think that is a mistake on his part and does seem petty.

Yeah I definitely see your point here. I also think it’s perfectly reasonable to ask a guy who has missed a ton of time to suspension and injury to EARN his big contract on the field more than you’d ask another. I mean, if he’s worth the mega deal he wants and says he deserves, surely he will stay off the weed, not miss any tests, and keep his body in shape so he can play for the life of that contract (bad luck injuries aside) and earn the dollars. Maybe I wouldn’t take such a stance for a guy who is usually available, but Le’Veon has burned us multiple times now with suspensions, and is injured often (although hard to blame him for that). So hey - you tell me you’re worth a **** ton, and we agree based on what we’ve seen, but we just haven’t seen it enough so you’ll earn it if you want the whole thing. I get it in this case

I'm having a turkey and ham sandwich for lunch. How about the rest of you?

Again, this is NOT about money. With a fraction of the money Bell will lose holding out he could buy an insurance policy assuring he cashed in if he gets injured. He’s “earned” it, it’s just a matter of how and when.

This is about Bell’s (and maybe his agent’s) ego. They want the sports headline saying he just broke the bank. I wouldn’t be surprised if Bell is disappointed and angry with the Steelers a year from now after he becomes only the 3rd highest (or whatever) paid back in the league.

His current status of not playing in games certainly does not seem to accomplish what should be his goal to make sure people see he can perform for the whole season. It is a whacky way of conducting business. If it is only to miss one game, I guess it won't matter much in the end.

However, I don't know if Gurley gets as big of a contract without this process having gone on with Bell.

Would you become a "rap" star too???? LeMEon, is that you...????

BUT also remember that the STEELERS history is HONORING these type of contracts. They let the players play them out. So even a less leg for BELL to stand on. I hear what you are saying but wanted yaz to not forget thaqt about the STEELERS business side.

Full Implications of a Bell Trade

I know there is MANY threads dedicated to Bell. But as a fan with fair knowledge of the situation I would like to know all the cards in a trade scenario. A few things to consider:
1. Trade deadline
2. King making a team like the Pats.
3. What is the market.
I feel like this. If you honestly believe that Bell puts you over the top to win a Suprr Bowl the market would be pretty good. If you could get to the final three or four teams and you are adding that chess piece. There has to be a market. Three or four teams. Give me your absolute best offer and highest price gets Bell. Don't bother low balling cause I don't care if you are the Pats or the Ravens. Best offer wins.

1) October 30 is the trade deadline
2) not sure of that question
3) the Steelers will be open to trade to most teams except the Pats, Ravens, and Cincy.

You acknowledge that there are too many Bell threads but you went ahead and started another one anyway.

I can’t see this happening.

The Steelers lose their 3rd round comp pick as well as help their competitors. So a team would need to offer at least a 2nd rounder for a player they could get in free agency this off season. It just doesn’t make sense from several angles.

Not usually the Steelers approach is the only reason I doubt it..

Why would a team give up a second for Bell? Because he is a top 10 talent, that a team isn't guaranteed to get in free agency. The best all purpose back would get some looks in free agency with teams that can front-load a decent amount of money. Perhaps the team that is interested in Bell doesn't want to compete for his services....
