Americans would receive $2,000 a month under House Democrats’ plan

https://www.wfla.com/news/coronavir...-llD3lgi2Eutcg58K8Ht9FBXDPzFAUvcvwlmBLchRLJvY

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Two House Democrats say Americans should get more money during the coronavirus pandemic.

Legislation filed this week by Rep. Tim Ryan, D-Ohio and Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif. would give $2,000 a month to Americans over the age of 16 who make less than $130,000 a year until the economy recovers.

The bill comes as millions of Americans are set to receive stimulus checks this week as part of the $2.2 trillion economic stimulus package.

“A one-time, twelve hundred dollar check isn’t going to cut it,” said Khanna in a statement. “Americans need sustained cash infusions for the duration of this crisis in order to come out on the other side alive, healthy, and ready to get back to work.”

Under the bill, those over the age of 16 who make less than $130,000 a year would receive $2000 monthly payments for at least six months. Married couples earning less than $260,000 would receive $4,000 per month. Families with children would get $500 per child per month for up to three children.

People who are unemployed would also be eligible to receive payments.

The bill would also pay millions more Americans such as college students and adults with disabilities who are still claimed as a dependent. They would receive the payment and their parent or guardian will receive the dependent credit.

Individuals would get the money through direct deposit, check, pre-paid debit card, or mobile money platforms such as Venmo, Zelle, or PayPal, according to the press release.

“As millions of Americans file for unemployment week over week, we have to work quickly to patch the dam — and that means putting cash in the hands of hard-working families,” Ryan said in a press release.

What’s coming next? The confiscation of private industry to pay for this. The beginning of the end of America. So sad.

So you are understanding that the economic damage is worse than the damn flu/disease.

Do you understand that the meat processing plants that recently closed have nothing to do with the economic shut down? The economic damage was largely unavoidable. The states could lift all restrictions today and many people would still stay home. People would have self isolated once they learned that their local healthcare system had become overwhelmed and actually receiving medical care should they get sick was a dicey proposition.

Yep, go back and re-read that paragraph I quoted. You quite literally said nothing.

It isn't about disagreeing with me either this is simply about your lack of empathy and understanding and the total lack of ability to admit what you post is just as much your opinion and what you think as what I post. The difference is I usually admit when mine is opinion and will admit when I am wrong or fail to see the nuance in an idea. With you it seems it is my way or the highway and screw you if you don't agree or if I even think you don't agree. That is where we have our failure to communicate. I expect these failures from those with TDS not from those who opinions I usually share.

Had to go to grocery store today. I’ve been going to my local mom and pop to help support them. Prices are always higher but I prefer it over big box store.

But this time I wanted a 6er so box store it was. Omg. ******* tape everywhere. Directional arrows, I kept going the wrong way and laughing my *** off the whole time. But the people is what got me. I don’t wear a mask. ...Several do, whatever. So the “looks” you get from some for being to close, for o he looks sick, nah ***** I’m hung over from all this drinking. People won’t trust people anymore. A sneeze and your black listed and tossed out. ****, did people wear full bio suites in the 80s during the aids epidemic? Nah they just kept *******.

My wife went to the grocery store this morning...early... we are old enough for senior hrs.....got carded...my how the times have changed

Nothing but an election ploy, free money, vote for me.

Good lord man.

You claim deaths are wildly over-reported yet in another post you then claim because it suits your argument, that deaths are the most accurate thing being reported because we have the dead bodies. Well which is it.

Why is this so hard for you to comprehend? Numbers and logic isn't really your gig and usually isn't for PoliSci guys (golly Gomer we'll take away 20 million jobs and bounce right back yuck yuck yuck). Let me try to position this....AGAIN.

The Death # and the tested positive #s are the easiest to measure and have the least amount of variance:
- Tested positive (easiest to measure)
- Dead from CV19 (easiest to measure)
- Undetected CV19 cases out there (impossible to measure, can only be estimated)
- The death rate (wholly dependent on undetected cases and at this point, impossible to measure, until we have more data)

Deaths SHOULD be the easiest to measure. We have empirical data - until death certificates started being ****** with by the hospitals. But measuring deaths is, of the four measurables we all debate, one of the least variable - dead body, tested positive for CV19, or had overwhelming, unarguable CV 19 systems? Check.

The death numbers are able to be ACCURATELY measured and the accurate number is IN the REPORTED numbers. But the REPORTED numbers are over-inflated. Because they have been directed to include ALL deaths as CV19 deaths. Thus, deaths are OVER reported.

You believe deaths are UNDER reported. Here's how we view this differently:

Me: Deaths are the sum of (deceased human, tested positive for CV19) + (deceased human, non-positive, but "classified" as CV19 death) = Total CV19 Deaths

You: Deaths are the sum of (deceased human, tested positive for CV19) + (deceased human, non-positive, but "classified" as CV19 death) + (tens of thousands of deaths that have happened that may have, might have, could be, maybe-should be reclassified as CV19 deaths) = Total CV19 Deaths.

We aren't sitting on tens of thousands of deaths that SHOULD be reclassified. You believe there are deaths out there we don't somehow know about that are undiscovered. Now...moving on....

You make a big claim that this is not likely to be caught by anything but what was it 2 tenths of a percent yet you also argue the mortality rate is actually much lower(which it is) because many more people have this than they have diagnosed, it can’t be both.

You're conflating those "infected tested" with the "mortality rate." Two...different....discussions.

Regarding the 2/10 of a percent, that wasn't my claim, it was offered by an expert and I offered it here. It is math though of "today's" numbers. Today there are 616,168 cases. There are 320Million Americans. Divide. You get 0.0019. As of today, based upon the limited # of those tested, you have a 2/10 of a percent chance of getting the virus. I'll admit that is misleading (in a moment).

Once the # of undetected cases is estimated, say it's 10 times detected cases, both the mortality # and the contagion number will change. The mortality # will decrease and the contagion number (the 2/10 number) will increase.

This is more contagious than current data shows. If anything, it is unfair to say you have a two tenths of a % chance of getting it just like its unfair to say the death rate is 4.2%

Yet when someone actually agrees with you on something you miss the entire point

No, I double down when people say stupid **** like "the death rate IS 4.2%" and will call it out.

Jesus Christ man you are saying the same ******* things I did. I was referring to the 4.2 as what is being said and then ******* agreeing with you that it is not correct and will come down as we test and estimate the total infection rate. As I said you fail to grasp or completely read what I say.

Look whether it is correct or not the 4.2 is an actual number. It isn’t accurate but it is the only number they can come up with so far. So yes I repeated it but not to agree with it but to agree with you that it will come down dramatically as we get better numbers.

I also said that the mortality count is underreported, and feel free to disagree with that, but we both agree that either way it is closer than the case count and that the overall mortality is lower than the published rates.

You made some very incorrect assumptions about what I meant and acted like a jackass about it.

I don’t wear a mask either. I can’t stand that ****- my glasses dog up for one, and I feel like I’m being smothered. I get looks too- but I don’t give a ****. This whole thing makes me laugh at how panic driven the public is. I’m the only one in my classroom who still goes outside or to the store regularly. My coworkers think I’m nuts. Meanwhile, I’m not the one NOT eating because of fear of food. They are literally panicking over the food in the stores- I told them if you wash it and cook it, you’re fine. Plus you can’t get the Rona from eating. It’s amazing how crazy people can be.

I have developed seasonal allergies over the last decade and this year is bad. I feel like Typhoid Mary when I walk through a store with my nose running god forbid I sneeze. I tend to sneeze extremely loudly and forcefully. I would probably kill a few people at the moment if I sneezed like that in a store. Cardiac arrests for you and you and you.

Do you understand that the meat processing plants that recently closed have nothing to do with the economic shut down? The economic damage was largely unavoidable. The states could lift all restrictions today and many people would still stay home. then why are some Euro countries not getting dry ****** in the *** if this was "largely unavoidable"?

Some people may have isolated due to the healthcare system, while others demanded to be allowed to work from home (and thus isolate) for purely selfish reasons.

Nancy Pelosi Visits San Francisco’s Chinatown Amid Coronavirus Concerns

By NBC Bay Area staff • Published February 24, 2020 • Updated on February 25, 2020 at 7:05 am

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi toured San Francisco's Chinatown Monday to send a message. She said there's no reason tourists or locals should be staying away from the area because of coronavirus concerns.

"That’s what we’re trying to do today is to say everything is fine here," Pelosi said. "Come because precautions have been taken. The city is on top of the situation."

Pelosi visited The Wok Shop, a temple and the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory, which was started 58 years ago by owner Kevin Chan's mother and uncle.

Shutting down the country for something killing less than flu...what could possibly go wrong? Just our food supply dwindling.

No worries. We just put Bloomy in charge of growing crops, and VOILA! Problem solved.

This is pretty funny: The girl that I was seeing for almost a month recently called it off because I referred to the 'rona as Kung Flu and Chinese Bat AIDS. It's ok though, I'm already dating someone much better.

If a woman does not have enough of a sense of humor to put up with that, god bless the moron that marries her.

The "science" around this thing is a joke. We've gone from don't wear a mask. You'd have to have a specially fitted N95 mask for it to be effective - to this -
"All people in public must have a mouth and nose covering and wear them in situations where you are not maintaining social distancing," the governor said. "You must wear a mask or cloth or an attractive bandana ... but you have to wear it in those situations."

Now a governor has signed an executive order for people to wear attractive bandanas. LOL.

If a woman does not have enough of a sense of humor to put up with that, god bless the moron that marries her.

Yeah, she was really triggered by that. I am "too insensitive and make fun of too many things that should be taken seriously". Better to know now than later.
