The Coronavirus thread

China just added deaths to their count as well. They skewing things too?

******* WHO!!! Everything’s a conspiracy, nothing is as it seems!

The whole world would have been better off if China had just been honest in the first place. And it would have been more helpful if the WHO hadn't licked the boots of their Chinese masters.

Amen!
and I think China just scratched the surface of their real numbers. Still not close to the truth.

No if you read the daily notes it was clearly explained. It was from NYC and cases that had yet to be classified lacking test results and they did not have the date stamp for the correct date of death. They attributed what they could but then had to put the rest somewhere. Not a conspiracy as it was fully noted. And yes I caught it as well and was suspicious until I found the actually documented it. So it is a statistical aberration.

Those 3700 deaths were people who did NOT test positive for CV19. But they "think" they may have had it. "No known positive lab test for CV19 BUT the death certificate lists as a cause of death CV19 "or equivalent"......

Or equivalent??? Like could have had a cold or pneumonia induced by the flu....so we are calling it CV19.

It's pure manipulation of stats, not an "aberration". A willful decision was made to put deaths that were "equivalent to" (whatever that means) in the CV19 column, thus knowingly inflating those stats, unless you believe 100% of those were properly classified.

New York City today has reported 3,778 additional deaths that have occurred since March 11 and have been classified as "probable," defined as follows: “decedent [...] had no known positive laboratory test for SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) but the death certificate lists as a cause of death “COVID-19” or an equivalent" [source]. We will add these to the New York State total as soon as it is determined whether the historical distribution can be obtained

Plenty has already to have been proven "not as it seems."

Did you believe 100,000 to 240,000 would die when they said that would happen?
Do you still believe the death rate is 4.2% or 3.7%?
Do you still believe the models that were put forth?
Do you still believe we will run out of vents?
Do you still believe we will run out of ICU beds?

Much that we believed just days and weeks ago isn't as it seemed.

Pardon us for questioning when the edict of what would happen has been wrong at every turn.

You know- if they wore hooded masks and carried bike locks on chains and called themselves antifa and busted a few skulls while chanting F Trump; these protests would be called heroic by the media.

May have missed it. How it work out for you and your fam. If I recall your front line and got reassigned

Scares me that their lead virologists/clinicians in Wuhan warned of what was going to happen, then just mysteriously disappeared or died. I don't believe it was a bioweapon, but somebody was careless with something extremely dangerous, and when it got out -- the CCP (CPC whatever) did everything they could to try to keep it under wraps. They banned domestic flights from Wuhan to other parts of China in late January (or maybe early February), but not international flights to any other country in the world?

The experts that were working on this virus (IMO) did so with lax regulations imposed from their own country and also from the rest of the world, it got out, and now the rest of that world is basically suffering the consequences.

I know the death count inches closer to 100k every day.
I know the current death rate is actually hire than 4.2%.
I know the models put forth that hundreds of thousands would be infected and tens of thousands would die.
I know that had it not been for shutting down society and social distancing we would have run out of both vents and ICU beds. I certainly don’t think that it’s a coincidence that we’re seeing outbreaks among food processing workers who work shoulder to shoulder.

You believed weeks ago that the US had 15 cases and soon would be down to zero. Talk about being wrong! But, LIBERATE, right?

Here is an interesting analysis of the actual data that suggests that the coronavirus does what it does, regardless of lockdowns. Israeli Professor Shows Virus Follows Fixed Pattern

Professor Yitzhak Ben Israel of Tel Aviv University, who also serves on the research and development advisory board for Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, plotted the rates of new coronavirus infections of the U.S., U.K., Sweden, Italy, Israel, Switzerland, France, Germany, and Spain. The numbers told a shocking story: irrespective of whether the country quarantined like Israel, or went about business as usual like Sweden, coronavirus peaked and subsided in the exact same way. In the exact, same, way. His graphs show that all countries experienced seemingly identical coronavirus infection patterns, with the number of infected peaking in the sixth week and rapidly subsiding by the eighth week.

Just like the flu, nobody knows why it goes away.
The reason why coronavirus follows a fixed pattern is yet unknown. "I have no explanation,” he told Mako, “There are is kinds of speculation: maybe it's climate-related, maybe the virus has its own life cycle.”

With a common sense conclusion -
Professor Yitzhak Ben Israel has mathematically shown us that coronavirus closures were a mistake. It's a tough reality. Americans lost their jobs and businesses went under because the United States, along with most first world nations, acted on the chilling predictions of a severely flawed model, a reading of Professor Ferguson’s tarot cards. Hindsight is 20/20, so we have to be realistic with our criticism. President Trump did not want 2.2 million Americans to die and did what he thought was necessary to save our lives, relying on a model his advisors told him was trustworthy. It's done. It happened. But it doesn't mean that he should continue the course.

We only have 33,000 deaths. You can start to say we are inching toward 100K at around 80K. The projected death rate I believe is around 60K when it's all said and done so god luck with that.

So calm down and just do the math. The population of the US is 328,000,000. Today the death toll stands at 33,000.

So as of today the death toll in the US is roughly only 100 people per 1,000,000. Not really a lot.

Time to get back to work.

Thanks for asking- So far it’s good. We’re seeing cases but it’s not as big as NYC. We have seen some f upped things in patients because of this. We aren’t expecting much in the next couple of weeks and we are hoping to get our outpatient tests ramped up

Are you using Chinese data as a counterpoint to false data?

Are you saying the US should hold China accountable for a virus the US itself responded to with a huge unnecessary over-reaction? COVID-19 is either a big problem that necessitates a major response or it’s not. Pick one.

Regardless which side you fall on as far the worth of the actions taken, the best sign yet we are coming out of this? Politics and hate from the left is ramping back up from politicians. They no longer feel the need to play nice as they think they will not need to ask Trump for more stuff so they are attacking him. I think they realize he has only strengthened his position during this and the are desperate now.

Another outstanding press conference by Gov. Cuomo today.

Not only did he address COVID clearly and succinctly, but he talked about eliminating politics and being united through this all...quoted Lincoln and the gospel of Mark, which both talked about a "house divided"...

I hope all the nations leaders take note on his process, style, and overall climate he has been creating with his press conference...

This is sarcasm? I hope? He was knee deep in muck raking yesterday.

I missed yesterdays...but the ones I have seen have been very professional, informative, and done in a way that exhibits humility and openness with respectful and thoughtful exchanges with those asking questions and seeking additional info and clarity..

Guess we all have bad days though? lol

Here is an interesting question for those in the healthcare industry, or with family in the industry: Ask them to ask the people in the hospital in charge of billing if the hospital gets higher reimbursement for patients classified as CV-19, or if they at least find greater ease of billing for CV-19 patients as compared to non-CV19?

The answer could explain why the CV-19 numbers are so high. Insurance companies certainly wouldn't want to be called out for challenging charges for CV-19 patients, it would be a PR nightmare and hospitals know it.

The insurance companies have contracts with the hospitals. Every procedure has a contract rate. That won't change. What could change is what the patients have to pay. Insurance companies will likely waive all copays and coinsurance for CV related charges.

What it could help the hospitals with is the restrictions on authorizations could be relaxed, Slap the CV diagnosis on there and all of a sudden maybe some procedures that would require a pre authorization might just get paid. Charges that may have normally been denied will probably be paid.

This could lead to some hospitals trying to take advantage by padding the bill up with things they know they would normally not get paid. They might start charging more for everything and almost daring the insurance companies to deny the overcharges.

I feel what Hospitals have to gain is more in terms of government funding. Same with FDA and CDC. That is what's happening. These groups will all have huge budget demands and i feel that's part of why they are so pushing this so hard.

Nursing homes no change.

There are however attempts for bills introduced for money for front line folks and some additional monies due to substantial added costs for companies.
