US coronavirus cases hit more than 400 as the outbreak grows and death toll rises to 19

On Saturday night, 31 states and the District of Columbia reported at least one confirmed or presumptive positive case, with those cases totaling 372. Including those infected people repatriated from abroad, and those trapped aboard the quarantined cruise ship Grand Princess off San Francisco, the total is at least 442.

Washington state had the most cases with 103, including 16 deaths, followed by New York with 89 cases and California, with 81 cases and one death. Florida, which reports 11 cases, has also seen two fatalities.

In Nebraska, there were dramatic scenes as a woman who tested positive for the virus was rushed from a community hospital to the nation's leading biocontainment unit at he University of Nebraska Medical Center Omaha.

The 36-year-old was photographed being transported to the facility in a hi-tech isolation pod late Friday.

New Yorker in serious condition after Italy trip

A member of the Sephardi Jewish community in Flatbush, Brooklyn, is in serious condition following a trip to Italy due to a possible case of coronavirus, Yeshiva World News reported.

The man, who is in his 30s and resides on Ocean Parkway, just returned from Milan, Italy, and is currently on a respirator.

'Get ready': Italian doctors warn Europe

Professor Maurizio Cecconi, Professor Antonio Pesenti and Professor Giacomo Grasselli, from the University of Milan, revealed how difficult it had been to treat coronavirus patients.

“We are seeing a high percentage of positive cases being admitted to our intensive care units (ICUs), in the range of 10 per cent of all positive patients... We wish to convey a strong message: Get ready!”

Italian hospitals had seen “a very high” number of intensive care patients who were admitted “almost entirely” for severe lung failure caused by the virus and needing ventilators to help them breathe.

Patients with coronavirus experience a severe infection in all of their lungs, requiring major ventilation support. It also reveals the effect of the virus, which affects blood pressure, the heart, kidneys and liver with patients needing sustained treatment...

The Army on Sunday suspended travel for all soldiers and their families to and from South Korea due to concerns about the fast-spreading coronavirus, or COVID-19.

The travel ban will be in effect through May 6, according to U.S. Forces Korea. There are 28,500 U.S. troops stationed in South Korea.

(Reuters) - As coronavirus cases exploded across the world, federal medical workers tasked with screening incoming passengers at U.S. airports grew alarmed: Many were working without the most effective masks to protect them from getting sick themselves.

Screeners with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention asked their supervisors this week to change official protocols and require stronger masks, according to an internal document reviewed by Reuters.

Allow me to expand. I'm an asthmatic. When I was 5, docs told my mom I wouldn't live till 6, it was so bad. Found specialists at a Children's National Hospital. Until I was done with 6th grade, I spent easily 100 nights in one of these, a croup tent.

I remember watching the Yankees and Dodgers in the world series through that plastic. Couldn't see it, had to listen. I contracted pneumonia due to my asthma a half dozen times or more. I've been on antibiotics hundreds of times, literally, in my life. I ******* know PERSONALLY that you don't use antibiotics to fight a virus.

Nowhere did I say you treat COVID-19 with antibiotics you flaming, ignorant fool.
