Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro on Friday said he tested negative for the novel coronavirus after reports suggested he'd tested positive.

O Dia, a major Brazilian newspaper, earlier on Friday reported that he'd tested positive. Fox News later confirmed the news.

Bolsonaro's son Eduardo told Fox News that further testing was being done to confirm the diagnosis and that they expected results later on Friday.

The Brazilian president took to Twitter to announce he'd tested negative, also tweeting: "DO NOT BELIEVE IN THE MEDIA FAKE NEWS!"

How is the media making it worse than it is? Yes, it’s dominating news coverage but we’re also having White House briefings every other day. It’s big news. Did you watch the Pandumbic videos? How is the right wing media reporting it? Was Trump accurate when he implied the cases had maxed out at 15 and were going to decline? How isn’t it relevant for “everyone”?

I’d love to go to Mecum but given the stock market, the last thing I need is to watch a bunch of cars that I can’t afford be auctioned-off. I’m feeling poor enough already.

While I applaud your brave and noble effort, I don't think you're going to get through to him. That's based on empirical evidence from many years posting on this board.

For whatever reason, Tim and others like him have chosen their unflinching support of Trump to be their hill to die on.

I think at this late stage of his first - and last term - all we can do is offer the Trump base our compassion, thoughts & prayers and condolences. It seemed like a good idea back in 2016, unfortunately things didn't work out that way.

You must have your head in the sand. The media-fueled, non-stop coverage and panic is leading to all sorts of rash behaviors leading to masks not being available for medical personnel, stores being emptied, and markets collapsing. Just to mention a few.
 
I would argue having an incompetent, bumbling fool give erratic, confusing and contradictory statements over the span of weeks and months accounts for the 'binge shopping' as much as anything the media may be doing or reporting.

Same with the stock markets. They're not reacting based on how the media is reporting this pandemic.

The media creates this panic by polarizing people and constantly questioning the President and editing him to look as and as possible. You fall for it hook line and sinker and are a perfect example of their manipulation of people that just want to find any reason to hate him. Everything you post is colored by your hate him. Everything is framed in such a way by the media and his detractors to make any possible statement of his look as bad as possible and I am really sick of it.

With all due apologies, you're nuts if you think the media skewers or influences my opinion of Trump and the job that he is doing.

I also think you're nuts if you're not questioning Trump right now. He's been distorting the facts from day one, twisting in the wind trying to control the messaging on what is happening, and has clearly failed doing so.

So go ahead and blame the media and blame those critical of Trump. Hold their feet to the fire. By no means should you make an honest assessment for yourself of how this President is handling this situation.

Yeah, I do, that's part of it. I also watch and listen to Trump with my own eyes & ears. As I do his cabinet members and the various experts who give interviews and testify at congressional hearings, for example. It's a pretty unanimous view that the Trump adminstration has done too little too late dealing with covid-19. But that's the past, what's important is things get ramped up, testing kits get out there in earnest, and further steps are taken to mitigate a situation which seems to be escalating. The best thing Trump could do right now is step back and let the vested, experienced public health experts communicate to the general public, Dr. Fauci for example and those at the CDC.
