That bothers you so much? That I'm an entrepeneur who travels the world, who's started multiple businesses abroad, creating hundreds of jobs, spreading American know-how and good faith diplomacy? Someone who supports our Embassy, its diplomats, workers and their families? Someone who's businesses have sponsored the US Marine Ball here for nearly two decades? Someone who's an American living abroad, trying to make a living? That chaps your hide, to the point it causes you sleepless nights? WTF, man?
Do you have any idea there are roughly 10M Americans living and working abroad? Who are still red-blooded Americans, who love their country? Is that concept simply ungraspable for you?
I had an opportunity to travel to Europe playing professional basketball after I got my degree in CA. I stuck around, started a business, met my wife here, started a family. I travel back to the States at every opportunity. I obviously spend a lot of time following sports, politics, culture stateside. It's all I do, it's all I know, as opposed to simply blending in here with the locals. My brother's in Houston, my sister's in NJ, my 21 year old son is in Austin, working and attending college. My two other daughters, all Americans, will likely follow him to the States someday. As will I, when the time comes, and I decide to close this chapter.
Why does that make you bounce off the walls? Why does it hurt you so much, to see a fellow American spread his wings a little, make a living for himself? I don't get it, really don't.
