The Democrat Corruption Thread

Social Security benefits paid out each year far exceeds foreign aid (86 billion verses 1.5 trillion) but did get me thinking.

If I look at the amount of money that my employer and I contributed over my 50+ working years, I've received back about half of that in my 8 years of retirement. If I was allowed to invest that myself over those same years, assuming a 4-5% growth, my nest egg would be 5 times what was contributed and I would never see all of it back. Add this to the fact that the average life expectancy of a male born in the same year as me is 66.5 and I'm far exceeding the odds. SS being in trouble is government mismanagement more than anything else.

While I understand that Social Security is a lifeline for those that were not disciplined enough to save for themselves, having the government do it for them greatly reduced their investment. It's not like any of us had a choice, it was taken out for everyone before seeing the net of the paycheck.
