The difference between Jones and Harrison

Jones just needs to take some PED's like Harrison does and everything will turn out okay....

Jones is no Porter.....Joey had 10.5 sacks his second season to go along with forced fumbles and interceptions. If this guy is still learning by season 3 he's been at the position a year too long.

I did not say that Jones WAS Porter, I said he was more LIKE Porter than Harrison. Different playing styles. And for as much as I loved Porter, he didn't dominate OT's like Harrison does. We schemed a lot of Porters runs at the QB. Jones has been hurt most of the year with an injury that did not allow him to continue his strength training, you guys expect all pro numbers right off the bat no matter the circumstances. Porter played in a different era, on a D with a dominant DL and a damn good rusher on the other side in Gildon. Jones might get it all together, and he might not... but like I said, the comparisons are pretty stupid.

i think they should sign harrison another year and draft another olb in the process . just i still don't know who

How is he going to improve getting off blocks. And if anyone thinks Harrison is scary strong with his shity back and knees they are joking. He just has way better technique. Jones is 25 years old. He is at the strongest fastest and most agile he will ever be. His technique is shity and he can't make up for it in either strength or speed. It will be a wasted pick.

Harrison is scary strong.... He can do pushups with a 300 pound guy sitting on his back. Also have you not heard his teammates talk about his strength?
Granted he does have better technique as well, but i have no doubt he is stronger than jones.

Harrison has many more years of playing experience and about 15 more years in the weight room and can bench press a Buick. Jones could develop into the same type of player.
I wouldn't bet money on it though.

How many times have we cut Harrison before he was a starter?

Why do people attempt to make that comparison? Seriously. Why?
First round pick vs. Undrafted rookie.
Oh. I get it.
Good comparison

He's not even the same type of player Porter was, Porter was better than a lot think. Jones can't do anything like Porter did, can't cover, can't rush the passer and can't run like Porter. Porter was very strong too, he benched 225 39 times at the pro bowl, 2 behind big snack and 4 behind Newton.

Harrison seems to have a much better work ethic then Jones does.

Did I start said thread, no. Thank you.

The point I was making is you don't know what you "might" have in just a short period of time. James couldn't make the team for many years. He had to bust his *** and then gravy. I'm not high on jones but I'm not giving up either. I have hope.

Jones may be 25, but at least he was on the field his first season. Harrison was still bouncing around.

What does that have to do with anything? JJ was put in out of necessity, not because of mastery of the D. We had more quality guys when Harrison was bouncing around. Totally different situations. JJ is a weak *** player who can't get off a block to save his mother during a mugging. Harrison is a beast who puts fear into O linemans hearts and gets them to surrender their lunch money.

Let's see if Jones can body-slam a Browns fan, then we'll go from there.

I have already seen hope and change it aint workin. Harrison's big issue was never his physical talent it was learning to play a pro defense. There was an article a while back regarding Harrison and flash cards with plays on them in training camp prior to his making the team. Jones has made the team and was given the position. He has been a very big disappointment so far, lacking speed, and power, and what he lacks in speed and power he makes up for by having poor technique. But other than that he has lots of promise.

Jones does appear overmatched most of the time. Offensive lineman have little trouble with him.

Harrison seems to use his quickness to get in position so the tackle can't square him up.
Jones doesn't seem to go for those angles and ends up getting squared up. Watching
Harrison might be better for Jones right now than actually playing.

I saw Harrison putting up 365lbs on the incline bench without much problem and he can squat&deadlift a house. You combine all of that strength and power with years of experience, attitude&skill= the type of LB the Steelers need....hell they need 2 or 3 like him.

Debo was put in out of necessity, as well. We cut Porter, remember? Either Timmons was a complete ****-up at OLB, couldn't grasp the defense or he was outplayed by Debo at OLB. Whatever the case, we put Debo in at OLB.

If you're attempting to tell me that a 25 year old LB can not and never will learn, then please tell me how James Harrison managed to start and become an MVP.

Steeler front office gambled that everyone else was wrong about jones that he wasnt too slow too weak and too lazy to be a great blitzing linebacker in the nfl. So far jones stinks of bust but we'll see... He could end up inside and end up being serviceable. At this point he looks more farrior than Harrison.

He can learn all he wants, are you saying he can learn to get stronger and faster cause that is what he needs badly.

He'd better learn to keep his skinny *** in the weight room if he wants to have ANY chance to become a legitimate and consistent edge rusher in this league

I thought Jones had a ****** back too ? Spinal stenosis if I recall correctly, could that be a factor with his technique ?

Not supporting the JJ pick, he was showing greater strength and more potential as the season began though and was looking improved from last year prior to the wrist injury. Anyone who is hoping for improvement on the back half of this season post wrist injury or comparing JJ to Silverback should check their head.

Georgia got him free runs through scheme and moved him around quite a bit. Lining him up against a teams LT and telling him to go get some may be asking a bit much at this point with his skill set. The problem is that people expect a 1st rounder to able to get some whether realistic for the situation or not.

If JJ shows more strength and improvement again going into next season I'll keep with the wait and see approach, but the clock is ticking. Anything we get in this rehab on the go 2nd season will just be gravy from him, and I'll hope he brings the gravy boat although not expect it. HERE WE GO STEELERS!!!
