The most famous play in Heinz Field history....I know he's had a down year but how do you cut a guy like that?

Remember coach saying he wouldn't amount to anything back in 2003 because he had a big head?

I know he's slowed down but how do you part ways with a legendary Polamalu? I hope he retires and doesn't force Steelers to make a choice. #43 will always be at the top of my favorite Steelers followed by Ward.

I know it's sad but they all have a lifespan in this demanding game. Very few even try to exit young, wealthy and healthy, it's like their life as they know it, is coming to an end.

Maybe it is, maybe that's what makes it sad.

I love Troy.He was interviewed on Mark Madden the other day. Although he said that the retirement thought crossed his mind, he left the door open. I'd say it is 50/50. He also said that his family will remain in Pittsburgh permanently, because his kids are Yinzers. Gotta love it.

We will see how his health is next season he may have another year in the game. One of my favorite players of all time.

Troy is one of the special ones. No doubt about it.

#43 is one of the jerseys a Steeler fan ought to own.

I was at that game...with Stainless
What a great ****** time that was.

Edit to say...I wonder....

Is that the #1 play in Heinz field history?
A modern-day Immaculate Reception?

I think it could be.

I think the main reason his game has seemingly diminished to the point that it has is simply due the fact that secondary as a unit is so terrible. Granted his speed isn't what it once was, but I definitely think he would resemble the old Troy much more if he had better players around him. He isn't able to do what he used to because he can't trust Mitchell and the other corners to do their jobs correctly. Back when we had Townsend, Clark, and Taylor was still good, Troy was able to use his incredible instincts to make game changing plays almost on a weekly basis. Now when Troy tries to freelance and make a play and it doesn't work, the guys around him can't be counted on to have his back.

He can always get a job in broadcasting.

I concur even last year with a struggling Ike and a struggling Clark he was making plays. Not as much as previous seasons but he was making interceptions, forcing fumbles and had a bunch of defended passes.

Mitchell is freaking horrible....the chemistry that existed between Troy and Clark doesn't exist with Mitchell.

There's a reason that 90% jerseys at Steelers games are #43

ARE you kidding, 90% seems awefully high, for a slow out of position non tackling safety !!!!!

He can always get a job in broadcasting.

He could also sell shoes with Al (bundy). Maybe do Kelly on the side, or top, or bottom, or back, or.......................

Salute the nation

I believe that was the last Steelers game I attended. That's easily the greatest play in football history. I've been able to charge a pretty hefty appearance fee for having witnessed it in person.

The drop off from that Troy, to how he plays now is incredible

Sadly, I had completely forgotten about that play. More a testament to my age and ability to remember stuff (and probably being completely wasted ) but watching it really brought back some great memories of the Troy of yesteryear. Man will always be a Steeler. The conversations from the past that asked whether he or Ed Reed were the best safeties have long been put to rest, imo. What will forever mark Troy in my mind though is his humility.

Whatever he decides, God speed and good luck.

He sure ******* delivered the goods on that play my brothers and sisters. Every bit as important as James Harrison's pick 6 as we might not get there without this play. Gets me a little misty for Troy's legacy.

That tackle on chris Johnson at 3:25 is one of my favorites.

Bottom line is he was a revolutionary player who could influence opposing OC plans with just being on the active roster. He is the most interesting man in the NFL. A HOF'r hands down.

It will be a sad day when he hangs up his cleats. He is one of my all time favorite Steelers and the thought of not seeing him out there is painful even though I know its inevitable.
