With RT and WR having depth concerns these are the moves I would make:

* Trade Broderick Jones. Being a young athletic LT I think the team would still garnish interest. Say for a 4th or 5th.

* Trade for Darius Slayton. I hear the G-men might be willing to move on with a youth movement and salary figuring in. It would only take one Steelers restructure to free up room.

* Bring in a RT for competition/ depth. I would look at acquiring Delmar "DJ" Glaze or Blake Fisher. Or another RT capable.

* If one of the corners get PUP’d then I would bring in one more corner off final cuts.

For me this is Aaron’s last season so you fortify the two potential weaknesses. You don’t roll the dice and box yourself into having to depend on rookies or fringe roster players at two crucial positions.

Nobody's giving up a 4th or 5th for Jones after what he's put on tape. Move on from this bust.
The left tackle position is always in high demand. I would be surprised if they couldn’t get a 5th for him. He has starter experience and is young.

You have to shop before you cut.

The flip side is……… other teams know he’s getting cut and will show patience till then.

Your only chance is a shot in the dark “cheap” offer, take it as a little bit of something beats a whole lot of nothing.

A bust coming off of spinal fusion surgery on top of it. I'm sure NFL GMs would be lining up to throw away a fourth round pick for this guy.

Not a fourth, but OLmen are really in need across the league and he has years of starting experience..

Also everyone knows transitioning to a whole new system and techniques on the OL can lead to across tge board bad play for a period early in the process..

So someone may give something for him... remember how Dan moore got way more than we thought in UFA and guys like Greene got traded because the league has a shortage of experianced big men

I see both sides to this but I think it’s going to be whatever they can get for him.
Man have we taken a nose dive drafting number one players over the past dozen years. Far too many busts with number ones not receiving second contracts or even getting their fifth year options picked up. You simply cannot build top tier teams drafting like this.
Man this crap goes back to Artie Burns,Jarvis Jones, Devin Bush, Najee Harris, Kenny Pickett, Broderick Jones.
That’s six different drafts with busts at the first round pick. Not good!

Dan Moore started 16 or 17 games every season for 4 years straight out of the chute, and never had a serious injury issue. Not a similar situation. True, the Steelers somehow managed to get a sixth round pick for Kendrick Green...and he's gone on to start four games in the three years since, bouncing around practice squads.

Maybe there's a GM out there stupid enough to trade for Jones, too. I doubt it.

Spoken for common sense. 👏😆

No way I would trade Jones for a 5rh. He is still coming back from injury. If anything ir him and give him time to get back to 100%
They could put him on the PUP I think after initially making the roster if I remember correctly.

There was a GM that gave up too much for Claypool. Plenty of other GMs that gave up too much stock. Again it is a premium position with a higher demand than availability.

Broderick has been cleared and is back to playing. Not unreasonable that that could get you a fifth we aren’t talking first or second rounder. 5th rounders bust out all the time.

Ley’s hope this new regime can reverse that trend.

Calling Najee a bust is inaccurate

We definitely had more important needs and should have never drafted him, but 1000 yards per season on the tragically stifled Tomlin offense is hardly a bust.

BJ got a freak injury as did Bush…but they have been pretty awful in general as far as the bottom line payoff from their first round picks.

It almost makes the trading away of a first for Minkah make sense as bad as they have been in the 1st.

I get what you’re saying with Najee. I hated the pick and thought he was drafted way too early for them.
1000 yards to me isn’t what it once was. Getting that in 14 games like they played back in the day with Franco and Rocky, that’s an accomplishment.
In 17 games it just doesn’t have the same sparkle for me.
They had other needs that draft for sure but this stunk of you know who meddling in the draft.

agreed. how many backs have gotten 1000 the 1st 4 years? 10-15? not many

Jones will have a limited market because I'm not sure many teams will look at him as a swing tackle. I think there's some out there who think he's LT only.

Bettis’ 1000 yard seasons count as well.

That Era 1000 yard rushers ended or changed around the 2010-is as the league leaned towards more scoring, making air-yards more convenient. That slowed the rushing, but actually made it easier to rush as well. Lighter defenses to cover the receiving advantage.

I think modern day rules and comparison of the “old” 1000 yard rushers as to today would take a 1,200 yard rusher.
