Six games for 1st offense, lifetime ban for 2nd.
Cotdamn. Lifetime ban?!?!
Talk about knee-jerk reaction
Six games for 1st offense, lifetime ban for 2nd.
Goodell is spineless. The media now essentially runs the NFL. The league should have come up with a penalty, that makes sense, but this is totally rushed to appease the media.
The NFLPA should have never agreed to this. Let's see the details. I would hope this has to be tied to an actual conviction. If not, then NFL players can be easily extorted by scammers. They already have to have their guard up but imagine if a woman's word could cost a guy millions.
Goodell is too spineless to defend his own decision with Ray Rice. The NFL did not see the video from inside the elevator. All this clown had to say was there wer no charges because there is no proof of assault and he spoke with Rice's now wife and based on her testimony, he determined 2 games was appropriate. Then when they ask what happened, you just say it is not your place to say and they have to ask Rice and his wife.
That's what a real commissioner would have done, but Goodell is a media *****. So instead he just thought about what punishment he thought the media would deem appropriate and that's what he gave. No he sees he miscalculated and needs to get back on the leash so he rams through this new policy.
So when does Ray get an upgrade on his suspension???

According to the second article cited, Rodger didn't need NFLPA agreement because domestic violence falls under the code of conduct. Also, this does NOT have to be tied to an actual conviction. The league will make decisions based upon each individual case. So yes, players will be put in a position wherein they could be extorted by scammers. On a side note, this may actually lead to the smarter ones not hanging out with "video dancers" and strippers. (I'm talking to you LeBackfield).
"In the detailed letter, Goodell announced that violations of the Personal Conduct Policy regarding assault, battery, domestic violence or sexual assault that involve physical force 'will be subject to a suspension without pay of six games for a first offense.'"
****, which one of these (if any, I can't remember off the top of my head) is our Pouncey twin waiting to see if he will be charged with?
Edit: According to the accusers' attorney, Maurkice is under investigation for battery.

So, under Goodell's new policy, he doesn't have to actually be charged. Rodger only has to say he's found enough evidence to support the claim and then suspend him 6 games (if I'm reading the articles cited correctly). Everyone grab your lube and get ready for the reaming.
My question is will The Rogmeister wait to see what a court says or will he just suspend someone based on allegations? How strong does the evidence have to be? In Ray's case it's pretty damn strong without going to court, in Ben's case it was non-existent (twice).see, I read that part as: violations of the personal conduct policy regarding 1) assault 2) battery 3 domestic violence or 4) sexual assault that involve physical force will be subject to a suspension without pay of six games for a first offense. In which case Pouncey's transgression (if there's anything to it) would definitely be applicable.
