The New NFL Domestic Abuse Policy

Good thing Ben found a woman he can keep at home....you know we're gonna ride him till he drops at 42,. right?

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I dont see anywhere showing 2nd offense is a lifetime ban . . .its a 1 year suspension minimum.

This is EXACTLY like the knee jerk reaction that was left in the wake of the thing with Ben. They come up with this big zero tolerance policy and then they are left with all the grey afterwords. So now some player cheats on his wife and she is pissed. What is she going to do?

"The NFL is immediately implementing a sweeping domestic violence initiative under its personal conduct policy that calls for a six-game suspension for a first offense and a lifetime ban from the league for a second offense."

"A second-time offender may petition for reinstatement after one year but there is no assurance the petition would be granted, the letter said."

But it was soooooooooooooooo good

I lost two houses and two cars to crazy wives I stole from other guys....

How guilty does that make me?
What makes you think you stole them?

Goodell, in an effort to have the medi aview him as tough, used Terrell Pryor's college infractions as basis for an NFL suspension. Will he do the same with this? Is Jameis Winston sitting out his first 6 games?

Only if there's an outcry for it.

******* dork missed it by thaaaaat much. Predictably over the top by Rog the media dodging *****.

Yahoo: Commissioner Roger Goodell announced tougher penalties for players accused of domestic violence, including six weeks for a first offense and at least a year for a second.

https://m.yahoo.com/w/sports/home/n...6b6e5c1b-l:1&.ts=1409291812&.intl=us&.lang=en

NFL.com: In the detailed letter, Goodell announced that violations of the Personal Conduct Policy regarding assault, battery, domestic violence or sexual assault that involve physical force "will be subject to a suspension without pay of six games for a first offense." A second offense will result in banishment from the NFL for at least one year. An individual can petition for reinstatement after one year, but "there will be no presumption or assurance that the petition will be granted."

No one ever discusses the fact that this woman attacked Ray Rice in an enclosed space, and that THAT assault is ALSO on tape.

Will this policy apply to Michael Sam and his partner??? Or is Sam exempt from this because he's gay?

Goodell is spineless. The media now essentially runs the NFL. The league should have come up with a penalty, that makes sense, but this is totally rushed to appease the media.

The NFLPA should have never agreed to this. Let's see the details. I would hope this has to be tied to an actual conviction. If not, then NFL players can be easily extorted by scammers. They already have to have their guard up but imagine if a woman's word could cost a guy millions.

Goodell is too spineless to defend his own decision with Ray Rice. The NFL did not see the video from inside the elevator. All this clown had to say was there wer no charges because there is no proof of assault and he spoke with Rice's now wife and based on her testimony, he determined 2 games was appropriate. Then when they ask what happened, you just say it is not your place to say and they have to ask Rice and his wife.

That's what a real commissioner would have done, but Goodell is a media *****. So instead he just thought about what punishment he thought the media would deem appropriate and that's what he gave. No he sees he miscalculated and needs to get back on the leash so he rams through this new policy.

Agree.

Setting rules according to the reactions of other people shows a complete lack of integrity / moral compass. Right and wrong should be determined before the fact, then applied. Not that there's zero room for having your definitions adjusted, but this (and other things) are clearly reactionary rather than being based on foundational principles. I have no respect for it.

This is what ive discussed with several people. She assaults him, he reacts...the elevator footage wont be publicized but the foyer/hallway camera footage was.

I saw an incident last week where a woman got into a mans face, taunted him, stuck her hands in his face, spit on him...basically baited him into hitting her. He told her to get the **** away from him but she never relented...she swung on him making contact to his face and he finally reacted and jabbed her ***** ***. Her response ? "Im goin to the police !!!" She got the reaction she wanted and thereby the man faces domestic violence charges, has to enter into anger management classes he pays for.....

Stephen A Smith tried to broach the subject that it is not always 100% the guy's fault and got his balls chopped off.

Saw that.

It's a shame.

I'm not saying dudes should be going Holyfield on *******. I'm just saying that it's wrong for anyone of any gender to escalate an argument to violence.

My best friend has a great theory on domestic abuse. He claims all men should have the right to once per year be able to smack a spouse/serious girlfriend with an open hand across the face. This will keep her crazy *** in line and absolve the man because it was his right - once per year. If you really think about it, it has some merit.

I've never seen that tape. Have you?

No, that would be a hate crime...

Goodell is by far the worse Commissioner of any major sport that I have witnessed in all my years as a sports fan.

Thank you....I feel somewhat vindicated now..

Sort of a "Purge."

He definately has favorite teams ala Pats/Ravens that just happen to get weak penalties
