The One, Big, Beautiful Bill has a significant effect on federal taxes, credits and deductions. Millions of taxpayers reported earning tips and overtime on their tax returns, many of them are veterans and people working in lower wage jobs. This relief will impact most of these taxpayers and they can start taking advantage of the deduction this filing season.

No tax on tips​

Employees and self-employed individuals may deduct qualified tips received in certain qualified occupations, such as wait staff, bartenders, salon workers, personal trainers, gig economy workers, and many more who customarily and regularly receive tips might qualify.

Taxpayers may be able to claim a deduction for qualified tips paid to them in 2025 that are included on Form W-2, Form 1099-NEC, Form 1099-MISC, Form 1099-K, or reported directly by them on Form 4137.

  • “Qualified tips” are voluntary cash or charged tips received from customers or through tip sharing
  • Maximum annual deduction is $25,000; for self-employed, deduction may not exceed individual’s net income, without regard to this deduction, from the trade or business in which the tips were earned.
  • The deduction phases out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $150,000 ($300,000 for joint filers)

No tax on overtime​

Individuals who receive qualified overtime compensation may deduct the pay that exceeds their regular rate of pay, generally, the “half” portion of “time-and-a-half” compensation, that’s required by the Fair Labor Standards Act and reported on a Form W-2, Form 1099, or other specified statement furnished to the individual.

  • Maximum annual deduction is $12,500 ($25,000 for joint filers)
  • Deduction phases out for taxpayers with modified adjusted gross income over $150,000 ($300,000 for joint filers)
  • The deduction is available for both itemizing and non-itemizing taxpayers

Strange that people aren’t quitting their jobs to become waiters and bartenders. The cumulative tax break of 10,000 people earning tips or OT is probably the equivalent of one billionaire’s tax break. Like everything MAGA, it’s heavy on hype and absent of perspective.

This reasoning is so absurd I was momentarily rendered speechless.
What’s strange is that you would have no interest in dissecting this tax cut under a microscope had it been Obama or Bidens idea, and neither would I….but Trump.

Under Sleepy, gas hit $5 a gallon because the Democrats printed money and killed American energy. Those are two very different issues.

so weird how you communists always compare x-number of working class to one billionaire, yet are oddly silent when prominent members of the Democrat Party that you love and behold, and defend to no end, can double/triple/quadruple their net income while serving in office.

you also seem to gloss over how helping 10,000 Americans is essentially helping 10,000 American families... yet are quick to **** on American senior citizens in favor of illegal immigrants. you motherpfuckers are just drenched in hypocrisy.

Yeah, they get a $500 tax break to help offset $2,000 in inflation. How about we force them to borrow $5,000 from themselves as well?

But you’re right in that I do concern myself with serious ****. A president that bows before world leaders on his “Apology for America” tour and being an activist for the Democrat Socialist Of America among a shltload of other issues is something to be concerned about.

I saw a thing on PMSNOW while I was at the gym on Wednesday saying that so far this year, Trump has made more stock trades than all of congress combined. Not sure if it’s true as I haven’t looked it up, but I hope it’s not.

Not sure how accurate this is but a quick search says Trump had almost 29000 trades from Jan 25 to June 26. The 500+ members of congress totaled about 23000

You have to remember that Trump has no involvement in his business dealings.
Don Jr. and Eric handle the day to day operations, as they did in Trumps first term.

I know he is not supposed to as president. The stock market and business dealings and all that is an area i have no clue on. I don't know what's legal and what's not. I just don't understand it enough to even make an opinion.
