A triumphant President Donald Trump celebrated Wednesday evening after Robert Mueller’s testimony, telling attendees at a closed-door fundraiser in West Virginia that the former special counsel’s appearance was a dud.

Trump, who arrived at the fundraiser energized and excited, told a crowd at the WesBanco Arena that Mueller’s testimony was nothing more than a miserable effort by Democrats to discredit him, West Virginia Senate President Mitch Carmichael told The Associated Press.

GDP grew 2.1% the 2nd quarter of 2019, exceeding expectations.

Economic growth slowed last spring, but don’t panic: The decade-long expansion has lost some momentum, but there’s little reason to think it is about to stall out.

Gross domestic product, the broadest measure of goods and services produced in the economy, rose at a 2.1 percent annual rate in the second quarter, according to preliminary data released by the Commerce Department on Friday. That represents a significant deceleration from the 3.1 percent growth rate in the first quarter.

But the big swings in the quarterly data are almost certainly exaggerated. The larger trend shows that the economy has cooled since last year, when tax cuts and government spending gave growth a temporary jolt. But the strong job market and robust consumer spending are keeping the recovery on track, even as trade tensions and a slowing global economy are threatening to knock it off course.

One reason for the lowered GDP growth was the trade deficit with China. Congress needs to pass the USMC agreement, and Trump's team needs to force China to reduce or eliminate its incredible arsenal of trade barriers.

There is nothing wrong with fluctuations in the GDP. You don't want inflation to skyrocket so one quarter of 2.1 GDP (which may be revised later because they always are) and another 3.5 GDP are a good thing. The problem with Obama's economy was that it had almost no growth. I'm not sure he had a 3 GDP quarter that wasn't revised down.

No doubt. Obama's flaccid GDP growth was bizarre, considering the depths of the 2008-2009 recession. Usually, GDP explodes with a recovery after a significant recession. Witness Reagan's economy, with 4 consecutive quarters of GDP growth above 8%.

President Trump on Friday lashed out at Democrats over their ongoing investigations into his administration, suggesting there should instead be probes into former President Obama's book deal and other activities under his predecessor.

"They want to investigate, they want to go fishing and I watched Bob Mueller and they have nothing," Trump said of Democrats during an Oval Office gathering to announce an agreement with Guatemala.

"It's a disgrace," he continued. "We want to find out what happened the last Democrat president. Let's look into Obama the way they've looked into me. From day one they've looked into everything we've done."

"They could look into the book deal that President Obama made. Let's subpoena all of his records," Trump continued. "Let's subpoena all of the records having to do with Hillary Clinton and all of the nonsense that went on with Clinton and her foundation and everything else."

That's great man, see if he can snap & share some pictures. More and more people are finding out that Trump is not only an approachable and cordial guy, but that he means business and really cares about the direction this country is going in. Yes, he's not perfect, but who is? I remember when Ross Perot ran for President and thought to myself "why shouldn't a businessman, instead of a career politician, be running this country?"

Border communities, the environment, and our Constitution’s separation of powers will be permanently harmed should Trump get away with pillaging military funds for a xenophobic border wall Congress denied.”

Not a legal expert here, but I believe there's a reason the court is called Supreme.

They're trying to save face. The SC has ruled. Those lower courts have nothing to do with this decision anymore. I understand they are trying to expedite some different cases but it won't have anything to do with this case. The way Trump is putting judges on the bench it won't be long before the lower courts won't help them any either.

Depends on what they ruled on and how. I thought part of it was that they ruled someone didn't have standing to sue. Even if they ruled that the president has 100% authority to spend Pentagon money how he wants, there will be environmental suits designed to stop it, or demoncrats will suddenly become champions of private property and try to block any eminent domain claims or legal attempts to purchase land.
 
I think it is an outrage that Pentagon funds would be used to defend our border.
