I pray that next year there isn't a libertarian running that will pool votes for those voting on "principal". This one may be the most important election in my lifetime, and you know the left will be pulling out all the stops.

They are already pulling out all the stops, Google/twitter will actively interfere to influence the 2020 election and the MSM isn't even trying to hide their leftist agenda anymore, they are full blown out in the open with hating all Republicans.

They dont understand this will only push Trumps poll numbers higher! LOL

The only small hope I have is that it becomes so bad the States hold a convention and take back power from the federal government.

The problem with that scenario is most of the major power brokers on the state level have aspirations of MOVING to federal government (where the money and power is greater), so they have no reason to infringe or limit federal government power.

In my opinion the only way to get term limits in congress and the only way to enact single-subject law making requirements (two of the MAJOR things we desperately need at the federal level), is through a Convention of States and at least a THREAT of new/edited amendments to the Constitution.

It's never going to happen but I can at least hope. And thank God the founders at least built that safety valve into our government system. Just another reason that shows their genius and one that we might actually have to use in the future.

Wall update:


The video below shows the current state of the border fence between the cities of San Diego and Tijuana, Mexico. Construction of a new 15-mile, 30-foot-high secondary fence is in progress at this time and is about half finished. A primary fence, fifteen miles long has been completed in the last couple of years. I hear these fences were both paid for by money appropriated during the Obama time and the primary fence was approved during the Obama years. That’s how slow the process is.

There was 650 miles of old fence before Trump took office. About half of it was originally intended to stop vehicles and is easy for individuals to climb over. Don’t be fooled by recent articles. Updates of a very ineffective, existing fence in a high traffic area is much, much better and more useful than building a brand new fence in a low traffic area. Updating the inadequate, old fence should occur first. There are hundreds of miles of old fence that should be a priority and needs to be replaced.

To build new fence, environmental and archaeological studies may be required and it can get hung up by lawsuits. There’s a lot more red tape for a new fence. So, don’t get discouraged, if the work right now is about updating old fence in high traffic areas. Government contracting for such infrastructure projects as this can also be painfully slow and take years. It doesn’t happen overnight.

A draft executive order from the White House could put the Federal Communications Commission in charge of shaping how Facebook (FB), Twitter (TWTR) and other large tech companies curate what appears on their websites, according to multiple people familiar with the matter.

The draft order, a summary of which was obtained by CNN, calls for the FCC to develop new regulations clarifying how and when the law protects social media websites when they decide to remove or suppress content on their platforms. Although still in its early stages and subject to change, the Trump administration’s draft order also calls for the Federal Trade Commission to take those new policies into account when it investigates or files lawsuits against misbehaving companies.

If put into effect, the order would reflect a significant escalation by President Trump in his frequent attacks against social media companies over an alleged but unproven systemic bias against conservatives by technology platforms. And it could lead to a significant reinterpretation of a law that, its authors have insisted, was meant to give tech companies broad freedom to handle content as they see fit.

An envoy of U.S. President Donald Trump suggested on Friday that Chancellor Angela Merkel's unwillingness to boost defence spending might give the United States no choice but to move American troops stationed in Germany to Poland.

The comments by Richard Grenell, the U.S. ambassador to Germany, signal Trump's impatience with Merkel's failure to raise defence spending to 2% of economic output as mandated by the NATO military alliance.

"It is offensive to assume that the U.S. taxpayers continue to pay for more than 50,000 Americans in Germany but the Germans get to spend their (budget) surplus on domestic programmes," Grenell told the dpa news agency.d the dpa news agency.

I don't see the reason for us to have troops in Europe any more. Germany is just spending what they save on defence on welfare for Muslims.
 
At the first hint of discontent from the host country, get our *** out of there. These ******** need to understand that we're good here. We can pull back and just watch.
