About 75% of teams would not have retained Canada after last year. 31-32 would have fired him at this point. No one else plays football like this. In fact most other offenses and all the best basically run slant all day. You can believe that you are right and 31 other would be wrong but c'mon.

There is NO benefit to letting him coach out the season. He may very well be the worst OC I have ever watched. You have a rookie QB that you have learning under this ridiculous system.

I agree. At this point you have to be in survival mode which is probably why it would have been better to go back to Mitch.

Had my stepdad over for dinner this evening and for some reason he stuck around and watched the game in its entirety with me.

He’s never been a sports fan and if I said he’s watched 10 entire NFL games from start to finish, it’d probably be an exaggeration…

About halfway through the 3rd quarter he asks my why the Steelers always throw to the sideline? Makes an observation that Miami seems to throw down the middle, to guys running across or up the field and we only throw to sideline where there’s really no room to go?

Part of one game and he makes a clear observation with practically zero understanding of concepts that what the Steelers are doing doesn’t seem to be affective!!!

Once more, while Canada has been a disappointment, he has only been with the organization 3 years and this is only his second year as OC… the offense you are seeing goes back at least 4 years… it simply isn’t the OC or the qb that has been pushing all our offense towards sideline throws and conservative play until absolutely pushed into aggressive modes…

As just pointed out, this isn’t a Canada issue, it predates him. However, if fired today, Canada wouldn’t be employed by another NFL team for the rest of his career and would likely only land with a mediocre to below average college team. The NFL is a copycat league and the Steelers do absolutely nothing offensively that other successful teams do.

We know the root cause and who hired O'Canada, one and the same.

Salute the nation

No worries, Canada is staying up late working on extra motion that will generate superb motion ... penalties. His latest creation:

The guy in the black suit? NFL defenses, mesmerized by Canada's brilliant motion distraction!

Those wr end around, oh and my favorite. The Double Reverse. Amazing. And can't forget those Najee sweep left/right plays. Just something brilliant about using your slowest RB with a bum foot on those.

Defenses have no idea how to defend this stuff, so they just stay close to our players all the time.

An interesting fact was pointed out by Mike Tirico (for once) last night: In college football, lineman can be three yards downfield before the pass; in the NFL it's only one yard. This is a big difference, and one to which Canada has not adapted very well, as evidenced by yet another ineligible man downfield penalty yesterday.

Between 3-5 minutes a game of our pathetic TOP is spent running laterally behind the LOS presnap

These motion plays typically yield -3 to +3 yards…definitely making the rest of the league look silly trying to stop us🤦🏻‍♂️

The Canuck offensive installed by the blind Shaded one

Can’t get enough of trying to see us win 13-12, 14-10, 17-14 type of games

I haven't yelled at the TV for years. But I did last night. Last night was awful. Hard to evaluate KP with the that play calling.
I just seems ALL the players are confused with the play calling.

Not entirely true. This is the first year Canada has been OC without Ben. Ben had some say in the offense last year. He also decided "the hell with Canada" a lot of times and did what he wanted. We never got to see the true Canada offense (with or without Tomlins hands in it and without Ben) until now. Yes we had problems before Canada but it was never this bad. Never, ever ever, ever in the history of this team have we avoided the middle of the field like what is happening now. I would venture to say that never in the history of the NFL has a offense avoided the middle of the field or had such a lack of routes or creativeness or whatever it is we are witnessing now. If I am exaggerating its not by much but almost every throw not just being to the sideline but they are almost all curls/comebacks. This is why we are not just behind but embarrassingly last in YAC. We dont even have a player with 100 yds of YAC catch yet and we are almost half way thru the season! Najee leads the team with 99 YAC!!!! Austin Eckler leads the league right now and has more than twice the amount of YAC as our starting 3 receiver's combined!!!!!!!!! let that sink in for a second!

I have said it before several times and ill say it again. Not only should Canada be gone as in right now but Tomlin should be fired on the spot for not only hiring this guy but allowing him to continue. It says two things. Either you are not competent enough to understand how bad Canada is or you are more so incompetent that you believe in what Canada is doing. Either way its inexcusable as a coach at any level of the sport much less in the top pro league being paid millions of dollars.

The penalty of Ineligible man down field is a product of RPOs. The lineman doesn't know what is happening. It's a dumb rule.

I've been watching a Hulu show about a gay sport, soccer. (That was for you tommy boy :) ) Welcome to Wrexham is about Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mcelhaney who buy a struggling Welsh "football club" I bring this up on a REAL football post because it has been eye opening on several fronts in terms of what it takes to build a successful sports franchise. It's an incredible show if you haven't seen it.

Anyways, to the point: What the hell is Art Rooney doing?

1. Who has been drafting/trading the Steeler's roster since 2008? Tomlin or Colbert? It seems as though Colbert had no trouble drafting and bringing in players to build three Superbowl teams. What happened? Did he suddenly forget HOW? Or was there an outside influence on what players to bring into the club?

2. Dick LeBeau was a genius defensive coordinator and the entire NFL respected and revered him as one of the best minds in the game. He lead the fierce mid 90's defense to a Superbowl and then returned to lead that early 2000's defense to three super bowls. But then what happened in 2012 - 2014 when the defense stopped being "Blitzburgh"? Did Lebeau forget how to call a defense? Or was there an outside influence on the defensive scheme that caused this great mind to be ultimately fired? We learned that Tomlin was asked to keep his fingers out of the defense. Is he?

3. How can Bruce Ariens produce an offense that leads the team to two Super bowls ultimately fired due to by Reid's account, his loyalty to Ben Roethlisberger? In other words, an outside influence wanted a different offense. Wasn't it Ben who broke the news that he was almost traded to the 49'ers in 2010? So, no trade occurred, and Tomlin is saddled with a QB he didn't want. Bruce is fired in 2011 and in comes Todd Haley, and the drama began between him and Ben. New offense inserted and what we're seeing is the same tired offense since then. Bruce is doing pretty damn well outside of the Steelers I'd say.

Which brings me back to the Wrexham show. The new American owners spent some serious money to lure away a top soccer coach who had been able to resurrect other struggling teams and lead them from the bottom tiered league into higher leagues. They fired the hometown coach who was working as a volunteer. They brought in several other prominent and respected people such as a manager (GM) and such and they began to bring in players and cut the chaff so to speak. I won't spoil the ending but it made me long for Art Deuce to take notes and understand that hiring within isn't working. Mike Tomlin is a well loved and respected coach by his players and he has a ton of charisma and does well with the media, I can see why Art is hesitant to fire Mike. But, we have a roster severely lacking in the trenches and his supporting staff absolutely SUCKS. Lineman can't run block and can't seem to stay within one yard of the line of scrimmage. The defensive line is a sieve and can't hold leverage. How does Gunner go from a Pro-Bowl returner to not being dressed for games? How does Pressley Harvin go from being a Ray Guy award winning punter to someone who forgets how to kick? How does Devin Bush go from a Nagurski–Woodson Defensive Player of the Year, Butkus–Fitzgerald Linebacker of the Year to a Line Backer who looks lost on the field? The answer, coaching.

There is a serious cancer in the Steeler's front office, and his name is Mike Tomlin.

Art II needs to make some changes and give the Steeler's their fourth coach in 53 years.

Boring offense, predictable, slow offense, would be a pleasant surprise if Tomlin would make a big decision not just QB decision over a fight in locker room. WE have nothing to lose, we are not a very good team at this point.

I'm not ready to say "very good", but we are clearly more talented than our games show.

Welp, if Canada gets shown the door, and he should, what mediocre OC will SBWHCMT replace him with?

Lefty. It's not his fault that Tom Brady doesn't want to be on the field.

The Steelers way is outdated, and it shows every week.
