The team now has a chance to take over the division lead

I won't be thinking playoffs until they get to 9 wins. Probably going to take at least 10 wins to get in this year. It's great the offense finally has figured some things out and I sure hope it continues. But this team still has soft spots on D and their special teams still stink. Plus, they still stink at clock management and the O had to stupidly burn two timeouts in the second half. Still lots of work to do.

I actually think the clock management has been terrific. How many times have we had the ball last in the 2nd quarter while also putting points on the board?

But yes, playoff talk is premature. This Jets team is playing for pride, and their coach is auditioning for his job. These are the dangerous teams that love to play the spoiler....

more than any other team in the league. We lead the league in points scored in the last two minutes of the first half.

With the division so tight there is no more margin for error. Hopefully the team plays as pumped up for the next two ****** teams as they did the last three good teams.

Just remember, we were 7-2 heading into a game against (IIRC) a 2-6 Jets team in 2007. We were 5-2 before the 5 game hellhole we fell into in 2009. We sat at 6-3 in 2012 before finishing 8-8, including a loss to the Browns.

I'm excited with how we've looked the past few weeks, but I'm very wary of getting my hopes up.

I wanted to quote both guys here because they both make different but valid points. Things still need work but things do seem to keep getting addressed, I will be pleased when the things that are addressed are improvements and preventative in nature instead of fixing past errors.

As to saying playoff talk is premature, I disagree in this regard. If this team is going to try for the playoffs the run needs to start now. These guys need to be told that if you want to go to a championship game and win one this is the time to start. We can not afford to lose another game. We need to win to move up in our division. We may need to win this game to stay tied with the Browns if they win! That's right boys and girls we could be tied with the Browns for first place! Let that sink in for a minute. Should the Bungles win we will be in second place with a win and only one game ahead of the gavens and Browns, teams that we split games with. Right now we may need to establish a tie breaker based on points scored.

I don't think we can even say we are going to make the playoffs for sure but it looks like if we loose any games from here on we may not. I for one want to win the division and have a first round bye, I do not want to be sitting there like last year looking for help from other teams that may already have their games locked up and nothing to play for. The playoff talk is the next carrot to hold in front of the team, the possible elimination from contention is the stick.
