There is No Denying It; Steelers Highly Interested in Drafting a QB

The way the Steelers are treating this pre-draft process, it really feels like they want to go QB. I do wonder which guys they'd actually consider in the first. Considering the top 5 guys, I'd probably put Willis, Pickett, and Ridder in my top three. I really don't know how I feel about Corral and I want no part of Howell.

I have to wonder how Tomlin & Company's wining and dining tour might be affecting Trubisky's psyche, and if he's already thinking he may have made a mistake by signing with the Steelers.

I would guess he feels the Steelers wouldn't start a rookie QB, plus coming in he knew there would be competition. He should have the mindset to come in compete and see what happens. He should feel fairly confident he starts out the starter. If he stays that will be dependent on how his play is on the field. He is well versed on that with his prior history.

From what I've read he is putting in the work as he has a big work ethic. Working hard for the inevitable competition to come. He will be well prepared with the play book / language / ect..

Salute the nation

52 can be Ridder and replace Rudolph or Haskins. I'm ok with that.
Haskins would be my choice to cut unless he balls out in preseason. We know Mason can win games even if it isn’t pretty or awe inspiring. That is what you want for a backup. Haskins is boom or bust. I want Ridder as I have said in the third would be a dream the second great but even a trade down in the first for him would be ok if get a decent pick back for it.

I just don't want to miss out on a stud player at a position like DL or SS or Wr for a Q. If they can get Ridder in the second fine.

I hope a lot of this is smoke screen. Personally, I think it is. If they can fake a few teams to move up and take a QB, maybe another position/player they want will drop to them. But to believe the fake, you gotta make it look good, hence all the wining and dining.

I sure hope that's what it is. I don't get mad about things like I used to with the Steelers, but that would piss me off. They need other things.

Tombert's pre-draft man love for Willis rivals that for Najee last year.

He's going to be the pick if he's available. The sooner we all make peace with that the better.

I don't know if they like Willis enough to trade up for him, especially after they **** the bed with the Bush trade, but it would not shock me if they did.

I'm on the no QB in first round team. I guess I could live with a trade back with a team like Detroit for pick 32 so you lock him up for the 5th year but if you believe this QB is your leader who can take you to the conference title game why would you wait.

I'm higher on Corall than some, no on Willis,
On the fence with Pickett and Ridder. If they traded up for any of these or take Willis even in round two I won't be happy.

I don't understand the fascination with Willis. Let's even say he'd will be as good as a Lamar Jackson. So what? He hasn't won anything. And, the more QBs like a Jackson, or Fields, or Murray there are in the NFL...teams adjust and figure it out. Then it comes down to being able to make the throws consistently. Can those guys do that...can Willis do that?

I wish the Steelers FO would look at the Super Bowls of the last few years. All of the teams that have made it have QBs who can stand in there and deliver the ball. Some can move better than others, but it's about being able to make the throws.

Don't draft a guy who is going to struggle with that, dammit.

Fields can actually throw the ball. He's not a run first QB. For that matter, so can Murray.
If you take last year's QBs, Lawrence was supposed to set the world on fire. Sure H.O.F. QB. He struggled. So did Zach whats'isname from the Jets (who was actually more of a running QB in college than Fields iirc). Point being, after one year, it's a little early to throw Fields in with Jackson. And definitely early to throw any of those QBs drafted last year under the bus. Even the ones who are supposed to be non-running, prototypical, NFL QBs we like, like Lawrence - who seems to get a pass for being ****** last year while Fields does not. j/s

I don't have anything against any of those QBs, please understand. And, maybe one of those guys will win big one day. I just know that Super Bowl QBs have pretty much always been more of the traditional type, and maybe there is a lesson to be learned from that.

It would be a reach and Edmunds and Edwards shows you reaches usually don't end well.

This class simply has more questions than answers. Fine then take one in a round noted for having more questions.

Traditionally TEs were blockers, ILBs were thumpers .... until they weren't. The game evolves.

It does. But the fact that the QBs who win the biggest of games tend to be guys who stand in and make the throws really hasn't evolved. That has remained constant.

I actually hope a guy like Jackson, Murray or Fields wins one...it'll give me hope for the future after the Steelers select Willis. Hahaha.

I am actually surprised you aren't pimping a certain QB for next year.

OH! Believe me, if they don't take one this year, I'm all for Stroud; AND his more traditional approach to QB play. Dude was lights out throwing to Olave and Wilson at the tOSU pro day!

Take one I still will be pushing him.

You would see me pimp a guy harder than you saw me pimp Watt.

He has an arm, good height, good mobility, great accuracy. Just the total package.

Then you have a kid driven to succeed with a less than ideal parental situation. So there is hunger to go with sheer jaw dropping talent.

I would be ok doing whatever it took to get to number 1 draft pick wise. Just that good.

Rudolph and Haskins aren't truly legitimate competition, in my opinion. But God forbid the Steelers trade up for Willis, then it's a totally different story. Even if they get him at #20, I can't imagine Tomlin waiting very long to get Willis under center as his starter, regardless of how well Trubisky prepares.

My greatest draft wish outside of my likes for the draft is that he is drafted early by someone else. I was looking at who had what the other day plenty of teams can use a QB. Houston,Gmen,Panthers, Saints, Atlanta, just off the top of my head there is more. Hopefully one of the do the reaching. Please.

I just hope all this love shown by the Steelers forces other teams to invest early in QBs. Then you have 3 or 4 tip prospects available that wouldn't be there.

If by any chance Willis is still available at 1.20 you know Tomlin will draft him so if that's the case I just hope he gets a redshirt year because he is not even close to ready compared to the other prospects.
