There's a 50% chance they fire Tomlin. Yeah, they will or they won't. See? 50%/50%
 
Art will probably deal with it similarly to how his Dad dealt with Noll when it was time for him to go… they started forcing coaching staff changes and when he didn’t want to fire more staff , he walked away on his own..

Cowher had family things he had to deal with and just got that cushy tv gig so he never came back…

-The Steelers are on the verge of going a 7th straight season without a playoff win and likely only 4 seasons with a playoff win in 17 coached by Tomlin. QB - Sullivan/Corley
-Pickett has regressed. Mitch is a turnover machine when he's in there and has bad mechanics. More than anything, the QBs don't always look like they know where the play should go.

OL - Meyer/Williams
-I mean, come on.

WR - Jackson
-Diontae and Pickens don't give full effort. They haven't gone full diva mode, but aren't playing consistently. Calvin Austin has done nothing.

TE - Roberts
-Mainly for the blocking. Even Darnell Washington, who I expected to be a dominant blocker, looks lost at times.

DC - Austin
-Keeping Austin only to allow Flores to leave was tough. I don't know if Flores wanted to stay, but in the NFL sometimes you need to make tough choices.


Coaches I think have done well include Faulkner with the RBs on the offensive side. Karl Dunbar does well with the DL and has Benton playing excellent for a rookie. Aaron Curry took a bunch of FAs and made them work at ILB. The OLB coaches helped integrate Golden and Herbig is playing great for the few snaps he gets. The DBs have done pretty well for the most part given that positional group has the weakest talent on the team, IMO.

He has been sharing, under the table, with Coach Tomlin thus insuring his Tenure.

I liked Flores, but I've heard talk of how he negatively impacted Tua when he was there and how much of better environment it was for Tua after he left.

Tua getting Tyreek Hill didn't hurt either
 
The best chance of Tomlin leaving is a trade. The second best, is if they don't extend him, and HE decides to move on. They will NOT fire him, but they likely would "RETIRE" him after 2024.

I would want more than 1 - number one pick though.

Not sure if Mike would agree though....Him and his family are very much entrenched in the City and the Squirrel Hill community.

And I'm not just saying that just to say something clever.....although I am lol..

My youngest brother has lived in Squirrel Hill for many years now, and had been involved with some community based items in that neighborhood.

Cowher only coached the Steelers for 15 years. Next year would be Tomlin's 18th. Nothing disturbing to Rooney about moving on at this point.

Here is what I think...it's hard-based on how the rest of the season plays out.

9 - 8 = Tomlin plays out his last contract year and Art II defers extension to next year.
8 - 9 = Tomlin plays out his last contract year and Art II defers extension to next year.
7 -10 = Tomlin plays out his last contract year and Art II defers extension to next year.

Good point, even though Noll coached for 23. Tomlins tenure would be between the two. That should be good enough.

here he wouldn't be head coach so he wont mess with QBs or O game plan. He's a heck of a D Coord
 
I do not think Art II trades or fires Tomlin. I see a two year extension coming mainly because Art thinks he’s got a great HC.
Now, I do think Art strongly recommends changes to Tomlin’s staff specifically OC wanting to bring someone in from the outside.He may even go further with DC, OL Coach, WR Coach and ST Coach, possibly
Keep in mind that Shades has 169 career wins and Chuck Noll has 193.
Three seasons to become all time Steelers winningest HC.
Definitely a defining moment for Art II’s legacy as Steelers owner. Can’t tell me this hasn’t crossed either of their minds. Just sayin’

But the point is they will have trouble attracting things like an OC if Shades is a lame duck coach. I get it. I say to hell with it, let the chips fall where they may; don't give the fraud another big contract, period. Make him coach his last year on contract if Art can't allow a coach under contract to be fired.

3 of our last 4 are on the road. surprisingly, this year we have a better road record than home record.

and I'd gladly accept a 1st for Tomlin. Which would mean the Jets would fire Saleh. Whom I'd hire.

Spot on Supe..

The Steelers are more of "America's Team" than Pittsburgh team these days.....which is evident by our ever increasing away game support and now overall HOME/AWAY record.

I am actually picking them Saturday.
