1 CB - Specifically Blake - if he is on the roster next year I will break things. A solid corner should be the highest free agent priority.

2 Backup RB - Two years without high end talent at the position. In the playoffs you have to run effectively, I wouldn't be upset drafting a RB in 1 if he was BPA.

3 SS -Maybe draft one in round one or two, as covering top end TEs is still a weakness. And the position simply needs a upgrade.

4 Resign Foster, Beachum, and Gay.

5 Bring in a backup for Ben with some experience.

I don't think we have to break the bank to upgrade CB.

Cortez and Blake and Adams and Shamarko can go about their life's business.

IMO not a reach of a plan, all doable.

Steelers need to draft Safety then CB in rounds 1 & 2 in the draft. Steelers could also use a NT if we can find us the next Casey Hampton. Safety is key to a Cover 2 Defense and we need a stud back there.

Robert Golden has shown that he can play and so can Cockrell. Golden should replace Will Allen who is getting a little long in the tooth. Not sure what they do with Boykin but I would be ok resigning him.

As for Blake? Can he play Safety? I doubt it he sure as hell can't tackle....but we were cursing William Gay 5 seasons ago too and now look at Willie Gay. Who knows Blake might come around.

lulz ok

CB, S, NT. All defense this draft

all D? the Running game held this team back at the end..... two years in a row.

That O can use one more weapon...

Typically you don't anticipate losing both of your top two RB's.
Beachum is gone, I don't think they can afford him under the cap but Villenueva is decent enough and improving. Need to re-sign Foster.
We have an experienced backup QB, he's just on IR this year. Of course he hurt his shoulder in practice before camp started, so there may be a problem there.
Allen is adequate but yeah, I'd let Adams, Blake, and Thomas walk.

I felt they addressed the RB position by picking up Williams. Bell and Williams are pretty damn good. Tousaint and Todman are not bad for third and fourth string...

New punter for sure. Berry folds like a cheap card table under the lights.

Another OLB.

Fresh meet at CB and S.

Sign Boz long term and trade Sushi for a pick.

Replace Wheaton with Coats.

Re-sign Gradkowski if his shoulder is sound.

Typically.... but a repeat problem tells me a talented backup sure would be a good insurance policy against

a aging RB
a often inured RB

Beachum is coming off a significant injury and was never a prototype LT he should be affordable...

I wouldn't "replace" any of the WRs.

Might as well start breaking things now. Tomlin likes Blake's toughness. He is going to be around.

They had great talent at RB. It got hurt. They planned for the possibility of Bell going down with Williams. How many top level running backs can you have.

I agree they need to go conrer in FA. They can't keep relying on the draft. You have to flesh out some things in FA. Not a lot, but just a hole or two.

I would go DB 1 and 2 as well, but I wonder if a good TE is available they go that route. Miller isn't gtting any younger.

Could Cortez be a safety? He seemed to have a nose for he ball early in his career, but strugggles with his back to it. Safeties keep the ball in front of them more.

Beachum will be looking to get paid even with his injury and I'm not ready to break bank when the Ranger did ok on the cheap. Secondary help in the draft and Free Agency are the priority and a DT would be nice too. The Steelers need to look at TE also.

We need to upgrade at secondary and we find someone to replace Foster

I'm no expert, so I'm not one that will argue who is better than who with regards to players, I trust the coaches know what they're doing.

But Landry Jones? Even I can see he doesn't have it. What are the coaches seeing in the guy?

Looks so slow, has this indifferent attitude about him.

How many years does Ben have left, anyone have a rough idea?

The Steelers were dealt with injuries. Bell and Williams were accidents so thats something not really coached or prepared. I think Toussaint would've had a break through game if he got more playing time during the season. Thats something you really dont plan for. As for defense, I do feel that is the much needed side of the team that needs re loading

1 The Steelers need help at cornerback, but it's hard to determine how many resources they'll put into the position. First, they'll need to decide whether to bring back Gay, Boykin or Blake. Allen is here as well. Also, they get Golson back next year and that's adding another high draft pick. I agree we need an upgrade, but we'll see.

2. I'm fine with a health Bell, Williams and Toussaint to start the year. I find a fourth guy to store on the PS and sign a vet the instant one gets hurt if that happens again.

3. Yeah, we need a safety.

4. I'd try to re-sign Foster and don't think he commands a lot. If they don't, I'd consider Stanford's guard in the first (his name slips my mind). I think Villanueva did enough to make Beachum expendable (you can't keep everyone), though I'd like to keep him.

5. I hope they don't try to sell Jones as the backup.

I'm not sure what to make of the way the defense played the past two weeks, they looked pretty good.

I guess I'd like to see someone who could get to the QB with a little more regularity, perhaps through free agency (but maybe we'll see some serious improvement from Dupree and Tuitt?).

I think we need to upgrade the TE position (still pissed about passing over Eifert, may not get over that for a while, if ever).

Don't know what to expect from Gradkowski next year, but I'd like to see Vick and Jones gone, and bring in a veteran back up with starting experience.

Would like to see a capable replacement for AB in the punt return position, Wheaton doesn't appear to be it.

I wouldn't mind going into Next season with Bell, Williams, and Tousaint as our RB corps.

And of course an upgrade any defensive backfield position possible, but I like what we saw from Cockrell, Boykin, and Gay.

Oh, and I think its very important to keep our O-line intact as much as possible.

Is that too much?

Coats has more big play potential. It's clear. He needs to be on the field instead of Wheaton.

Thats a toss up. Wheaton can be a play maker too. Coates can be a break out though. Proud of the way he played today

Wheaton has had plenty of time to make name for himself. He was 5 for 30 today. He had 1 big game this year. That's it. Time for Coats to get his chance.

Wheaton is still quality depth. He's far from being a problem. I will agree that Coates should be ahead on the dept chart

...and that was my point...as this thread is about what should be done to improve as a whole.
