The analysts all called this team to be an 8-9 or 9-8 team at best and that’s what they are. When full-strength, this could be a team that could go deep into the playoffs but for whatever reason, we are always down 4-5 starters to injury and this year, Tuiitt has really been a tremendous letdown with his situation, If Watt is out for more than one game, this season is over.

Well, if they go .500 the rest of the way during probably our toughest stretch of the season, they would be 9-7-1 and more than likely in the playoffs. And, we would once again have a middle-of-the-road draft pick. So, pick the biggest, nastiest, strongest, NT out there. Apparently, NT's aren't used anymore so there should be one sitting pretty for us in the middle of round 1. THAT is what this team needs. Then, in a year or two, maybe we can draft our next franchise QB because he ain't on the team right now.

Put the peppermint schnapps away, peppy. Aint no way this team is winning 3 more games
I dunno if the premise they are a .500 team then ending at .500 isn't unreasonable. Not sure they can be more than that though. They don't have power X and O coaching. What saves them is other teams don't have it either. Cleveland is looking like a hot mess, Cincy and Rats are irratic as the Steelers. Chargers are up and down. Vikings aren't anything special. Titans and Chiefs are playing well so in mindset those are two probable losses. Yeah at this point 8 and 8 seems pretty realistic. With the D giving them a fighting chance to stay in enough games to accomplish it. In other words groundhog day is alive and well in Pittsburgh.

Most teams without 4 to 5 starters are a .500 team at best to be honest

Game on the west coast - loss, even in our good years; Titans and Chiefs - losses all; Cleveland beats us in Cleveland; Cincy wins in Cincy; maybe a split with the Rats if the entire team comes down with COVID; Vikings may be our only win but I can see this team not winning another game this season.

That's exactly how I'm seeing it, too. Sucks

Funny that when the NFL went to a 17 game schedule, people said “Well, Tomlin can’t have another .500 season”. With yesterday’s tie….8-8-1 perhaps?

Welcome aboard the bandwagon. Most here have thought

Wouldn't that be an epic collapse? We start out 5 - 3 - 1 and lose out. Wow. Tomlin would top even his biggest late season **** fest. All the while knowing his job is secure.

Non losing season baby! Not this year Mikey T! Not this year!
I’ve said 6,7 wins and sticking with it.

I see 2,,,maybe 3 more wins...at best.

If you take out the strange 11-0 start to last season, this team is basically a .500 team the last 3 years, 23-22-2. They were rarely if ever dominant in that stretch save for a few games and had 7 one possession games. Hell, throw in the 11 games, and in 3 years, they've been involved in 39 one possession games. Also, there's about a sample size of a full season after the 11-0 streak where they are 6-8-1. Team has shown the fans who they are whether Ben is playing or not. The team is floundering around dressed as a contender but they aren't.

I really don't know which thread to put this in, so here is as good as any. I've posted a few times about the head scratching things we did in the Lions game. Several decisions I was completely against, things I feel are 100% on Tomlin... But nothing brings out the doom and gloom quite like the yearly stinker against a weak opponent. Media counts them out, fans start to doubt, the sky is falling, the team is going nowhere, rinse and repeat.

For as ****** as Tomlin is against these inferior opponents (and I touched on why in another thread, short version he treats them like a practice to try new things), he's equally as impressive against the stronger teams. I've seen far too many times this team get tossed to the trash by the fans and media only for them to put together a great gameplan and beat a team they were supposed to lose to (see the Bills game this year). For all the Tomlin is a **** coach for games like this, he also deserves the credit for the games he has this team ready and wins against the tougher opponent.

The one thing this team has going for it, no one is really lighting up the scoreboard against us. If it's close, I like our chances, and if the offense can put together an entire game if solid play, instead of a few stretches here and there, we can make some noise.

I for one, despite how disappointing Sundays game was, and how miserable it seemed, I'm not ready to jump ship and call the sky falling just yet...

Love the optimism. This week we will be without half of our starters including TJ and Minkah, Dotson, possibly Haden, Turner and maybe Ben again. It could be really ugly…

Well, it's only Tuesday, a lot can change on who is in and out.

I just read on Steeler Depot that Joe Schobert says that the team needs to take practices seriously to turn things around. That just burns me up. Mike Tomlin has ruined this once proud organization. A guy like Schobert coming in from another team. It did not take him long to see the difference.

Yeah i saw that too. Not a good sign when a new guy is calling out the D. Especially considering he played for the Browns and Jags

I've also noted that the Steelers often pull out games against opponents they really should lose too. However, one has to wonder how often are THOSE victories just due to OTHER coaches pulling a "Tomlin"?

I've been saying it for years now,,,This team has no leadership. Eary on, Tomlin had Bussy, Ward, Joey, etc. They were leaders who kept people accountable. Tomlin is too buddy buddy with his players and needs strong leaders at the player level to keep the focus and player accountability.

Yup, there is it, he gets all the blame and none of the credit. I'm not saying he shouldn't be on the hot seat, but this line of reasoning from this board is absolutely ridiculous. You don't win 150 games by being a mediocre coach
