This never happened:Christianity the religion of peace

I agree with what you say and do have concern that our country can once again become a land of opportunity and strength.

It will never happen with the citizens of this great land so divisive.

Until we have a statesman that will be President to all, things will not change.
I am so tired of hearing our current President say he wants to work with Congress, when in fact, it's the last thing he wants to do.

Executive orders.
You could order whatever you want. But building a giant wall, rounding up illegals, and programs to exclude Muslims and possibly creating a database of their activities (though I don't know that he has specifically said he would do that) would require money. The President isn't a Czar, King or Dictator. These things couldn't happen in a vacuum of his decision making any more than a President could institute Universal health care without the support of Congress and the Senate

And even if these decisions could be made in the vacuum of the power of the President (which I seriously doubt they could), history is littered with individuals who believed they owned the truth, that they themselves could solve intensely complex problems on their own. Many of these individuals claimed to have the interest of the common citizen in mind. How did that turn out?

Really?

I'm not sure who you are but if you've been paying attention as you claim then you know how many times I've made the CONservative clowns around here run away from most discussions I'm involved in.

no one runs from you dipshit...most just get tired of your idiotic posts and move on to more worthwhile discussions.....

I wish Mean Joe Bradshaw would jump into some of these threads.

That's why there are a lot of smart Trump supporters that know all this grandstanding and outlandish what-if's aren't going to happen. But if it happens A LITTLE bit in his direction, that might be a good thing.

There is a pattern under Barack Obama, in the eyes of many, that he has directed his branch of government to ignore some laws and enforce others to his liking. More so than any other sitting POTUS ever. This is the EXECUTIVE BRANCH. It is supposed to execute and enforce the law of the land and new laws enacted by congress. Period.

The whole issue of immigration in this country is that there is no law currently in effect. The Department of Justice, through its actions/inactions, is not enforcing any current immigration law. At every step from the border, to the shanty towns, to the civil services available, to the handling of immigrants in custody, to the communication among federal, state and local governments HAVE NOT BEEN DONE PER THE LAWS ENACTED BY CONGRESS. It is and has been chaos for probably going on 20 years, but much more so in the last 7.

There is a backlash against this and the realization the maybe this POTUS has looked the other way on LOTS of laws and has concentrated on laws that really only help his inner circle and agenda.

Trump might never get a new law in congress passed on immigration if elected. I certainly know he'll never get some of the extreme stuff he's been spouting. But I damn well know he'll tell the justice department to follow the laws currently on the books.

Take away welfare benefits and prosecute the employers who hire them...problem solved. You don't have to deport them, you won't have to build a wall. The hordes who come here for work and benefits stop coming, border patrol can pay attention to the really bad actors who are trying to get in.

The truth is no one really wants to do that. Businesses and farms want them here for their cheap labor and to do jobs Americans refuse to do. Politicians like to talk tough on this issue because it appeals to the lowest common denominator, but in the end there will be no wall and no mass deportation. Trump is no different from the rest of them on this, I guarantee it. You think Trump pays his nannies, landscapers and construction crews real American citizen living wages? You think Trump would support shutting down jobsites and fining companies where illegals are working? You want to go pick mushrooms out of manure or scrub toilets in Motel 6s for 8 bucks an hour?

W was the only Republican who's ever been honest on this, and he was crucified over it. All of you who love this aspect of Trump have a rude awakening coming should he ever, God forbid, become president.

Laws enacted by white slave-owning Europeans and/or Republicans don't count. It's been obvious for some time that He does not enforce laws He doesn't like.

The system is rigged to let in lots of dark-skinned labor class people from third world countries. If you want to move here from say, France or Germany, it is considerably more difficult.

There is a backlash against this and the realization the maybe this POTUS has looked the other way on LOTS of laws and has concentrated on laws that really only help his inner circle and agenda.
He doesn't even bother with laws, He uses the bureaucracy to make up rules and not bother with Congress at all.

Bingo. Let the Libs fight it in the courts.

If we need more cheap labor, just increase the number of legal work visas issued. Follow the ******* laws and let more people in the country. I'm all for it.

Trump has never said he wants LESS hispanics in the country. He has never said kick out Muslims living in America legally. He is strictly talking about border control and how he wants to criminalize (like it's written in the law) being an illegal immigrant.

That's it.

Is he grandiose about it? Absolutely. Is he politically correct when he talks about his ideas? No way.

But when you strip down all the things he has said, it's LEGAL what he wants. It is written, in the law on refugees, that religion or religious persecution can be used in the basis of granting asylum/refugee status. That is the law. There is no law that says we have to allow everyone in. There is not law that says we can't be biased in WHO we let in and from where. We have picked and chosen how many visas/immigrants we get from countries on very arbitrary basis over the years. Nothing is equal or politically correct about it. Immigration is not a RIGHT granted by the constitution. It is not even mentioned in the constitution. Immigration is a political policy/law enacted by congress and enforced by the executive branch and ratified as legal by the court system.

That's it.

I guess you missed the point of my post. In theory that's all true. In practice, it's never going to happen. The minute someone suggests a pathway to legalization for those already here, the right starts screaming. The minute anyone suggests cutting off benefits to illegals, the left starts screaming. No one suggests with any seriousness that we go after businesses who hire them, because businesses have lobbyists and campaign donations, that's the dirty little secret. Trump and others have blathered on for years about mass deportations and walls...PSSST. Never. Gonna. Happen.

The only realistic things to do are A) make it far less desirable to come here by stripping away the benefits of coming here. And B) provide a path to legalization for the millions who are already here so they can be properly taxed, licensed and accounted for. But no one wants to admit that...it doesn't pander to anyone whose votes are needed. It's just an actual solution to the problem.

That isn't an actual solution IMHO. The pathway means more will come. Just like after Reagan signed the last legislation. The future congress isn't going to cut off benefits. So the next president should use the current laws for deportation and work with congress to pass strict anti- illegal alien work protections. Then build the damn wall.

Strange how every single country in the world can protect it's border but we can't. Please don't buy the bullshit that the wall won't work. Israel uses a wall. Mexico uses a wall on it's southern border. Almost every county does. We can too. It's time to send these people home and give the tax payer a break. Most illegals aren't paying taxes. They are taking money from tax payers.

Chinese built a wall and they have hardly any illegal Mexicans!

Again, you stop them from coming by denying them any benefits. Give the ones who are here a time limit ..30 days to register yourself, artange to pay your fines and back taxes, become a legal guest worker. Anyone who's here illegally after that gets nothing. No public schools, no welfare, no food stamps,no jobs because we prosecute employers who hire them.. Watch how fast they leave and stop coming in. Get in line to enter the country for verifiable legal guest worker status.

Why give the ones here a time limit? They are the very ones I don't want here. They broke the law. Almost half of them are on welfare. They can't pay the fines or back taxes. I agree with everything else. Just make it apply to the ILLEGAL people that are here now. Why should they benefit from being law breakers? Guest worker? Most don't work now. How the hell are they going to qualify as a guest worker?

Obama wants to make them all legal and keep them on benefits.

hey, Elfie, let me know the next time you see a Christian, Hindu, Atheist, Agnostic, or anyone else do this:

warning, this is brutal.

Yeah, I don't want them here either but they are here and we aren't deporting them all and anybody with any common sense knows that. But if it makes you feel better to have Trump and others lie to you, have at it.

The reality is that this country is so divided, and cannot have conversation about things. Folk like Elfie just make it worse, not because of which side he is on, but because he won't deal with issues. He's already right, and those who he disagrees with are just stupid, deserving of being yelled at.

A good old fashioned revolution might fix it. So might a serious rise in domestic terrorism. But, the fix will be difficult as long as the media is so biased.
