Still doesn't explain anything. The rats should have been winded as well since the Steelers opened with one 8+ minute drive. The Steelers had 4 first half drives for 14:49 minutes. The rats only had the ball for 15:11. So I'm at a loss for why the Steelers wore down. Also the rats scored 10 points on their first 2 drives. This happened long before the Steelers could have possibly got winded. Also how does that explain the offense? Was the Steelers offense winded? Did they suck because they were tired?
Tired, unprepared, out coached and out played. Players were puking on the field, so we know they were tired. It being so early in the season may have had something to do with it along with the short week. Players not in football condition yet, or maybe Tomlin doing too much or maybe not enough in practice. In any event, they were spent. As to why the Ravens weren't, they were at home and also played the first week at home. It does make a difference. Rats opened with 3 out of 4 games at home, their lone away game saw them traveling oh so far away to Cleveland last week.
The Steelers overall record on these Thursday games is now 5-3. At home, they are 4-0...the victories coming against the '06 Browns (4-12), the '08 Bengals (4-11-1), the '10 Panthers (2-14), and the '11 Browns (4-12). Away, they are 1-3, the lone victory coming against the '07 Rams (3-13). And, aside from this year's Rats game, the other two losses were the embarrassing '09 Browns (5-11) Unleash Hell game and the '12 Titans (6-10). Cowher coached one game and is 1-0, Tomlin is 4-3. None of these Steelers seasons were losing ones though 2 were .500, jury is still out on this year. If you ask me, their performance for these games against questionable competition has been lack luster, to be kind.
And just for fun, if you want to add Thanksgiving games, the Steelers are 2-5, the most recent loss coming last year to the Rats in Baltimore. The last time the Steelers won on Thanksgiving was 1950, to the Chicago Cardinals. Since the merger, they're 0-4.
