TNF......................

Big win for the Eagles. They won a hard fought away game early on a Thursday night.

Excellent coach and hungry tough players.

Hard to believe they will run the table during the regular season BUT they will keep fighting even if they have a loss or two.

What a difference from what I am watching in Pittsburgh.:(

I try to watch what we do have. w
We do have O'Canada cntinually digging his way out of pittsburgh (good ridence at the cost of young playsers and season)
We do have Coach Tomlin being stubborn and showing ,ore and ore reason for replacement.
We do have some young up-coming players (Muuuth / Najee / Leal / Loudermilk / )
We do have a potential replaemnt HC on the roster.

And that is what kills us fans, the personnel is there in Pittsburgh, they just aren't living up to their potential. Sure, there are some gaps, but this isn't a 2-6 team on paper. The Coaching just sucks!

Are you saying we are "paper champions"?

Oh how this team has fallen.

I don't think we have the personnel anymore, offense or defense. PPG had an article by Zeise about lack of talent on offense and he was pretty much spot on. QB is a rookie making rookie mistakes. Outside of Pickens, who has flashes but no body of knowledge, our WR corps is nothing special and easily defensed. Our first round pick at RB is mediocre and the undrafted RB is doing better. The OL is mediocre at best although a bit better than last year. Good coaching might improve the product but we are a .500 team at best even with good coaching.
Let's look at this from a coaching standpoint, then.

  1. Najee is playing injured and doesn't look anywhere near the same as last season. Bench him and let him heal
  2. Why is a rookie QB throwing the ball 50 times per game? High percentage passing plays with a mix of RPO and Play action to open up the run game. should be 70/30 running
  3. Why was Chase Claypool in the slot WR position?
  4. Why are the route trees pushing outside of the hashes? The WR aren't easily defensed due to lack of talent, the DB's are playing with outside leverage
  5. Where the **** is Derek Watt? Do we have an offensive package with 2 tight ends and a fullback?
I'm not saying they're a championship football team at all, but they are a .500 team with the personnel they have. If we had a coaching staff worth a lick of salt, this group could be winning more games.

While I agree with your points. It would be great if they could run the ball 70/30 , but can you imagine the screaming coming from here. First down run 2 yards, second down run minus 1 yard,3rd down pass short of the line of scrimmage 2 yards. Wash rinse repeat. Been going on for 4 years. The problem is we just can’t establish the run for the life of us. And it’s like play action on first down has never been invented yet.

I think for us fans the infuriating part is we do see what is going on with the team. What at this point do we have to lose? Rest Naj,put in Warren. See what we have in him. But you have to be fair about it. It can’t be just for one game.
It just sucks that we are in this position.

OL , OL , OL , OL ,OL

Would fix the run game. We haven't had a run game for as long as we haven't had a serious OL. No investment = No return.
