Tomlin…Believes risk of turnovers when throwing over the middle

Hey Mikey!!

Why the **** would any good QB want to come here with a ridiculous philosophy like this.
This guy continues to hold this franchise hostage and I just do not see why Rooney allows this to occur.
Rooney acts like if Tomlin were to move on his franchise would fall apart.

What a feeble minded moron, can’t say anyone with eyes hasn’t seen this issue for years and the gigantic hurdle it is to an offense in an offensive league.

Side note: every team that won a playoff game this year uses the middle of the field.

Guess what else lays in the middle of the field other than the occasional turnover?
Answer: victories

He’s a certifiable dumbazz as is anyone who continues to employ him.

The one game they did throw across the middle, that first Cincinnati game worked out pretty damn well.
"that anomaly was derived from previously enticing the opposition on the field of football where we play 5-d chess and try to out manuever our scheduled adversary in the realm of victories and defeat of which we strive to achieve"

You know what else isn't in the middle of the field?

The Steelers defens!. They never cover it.

And this is why our TE's are consistently under used. Sign Muth to the extension and barely throw to him despite him having elite measurables
"On the field of football, we do not measure our worthiness in terms of relation that can be correlated by simple accounting measures with weights and pulleys. Rather, we strive to achieve that which has been ascertained to be our most pinnacle of achievements that are seen within the prism of the gridiron of which we are a part of."

The phrase " we dont live in our fears" is only used to excuse hyper aggressive and often strategically stupid decisions... it is not a philosophy.. lack of blitzing, the predictable zones, the uberconservative offense.. all the direct result of a coaching style that is 20 years outdated ... and afraid of way too much...

So we will have a game where the O throws 40 times abd 5 are over the middle, all late in the game while behind... those 5 all go for big yardage... we get down to the 5 and run three times into a stacked D then try a fade to a outside corner...

And face 4 3rd abd really longs on D and give up a conversion or play close enough to go for it on 4th down against the same crap zones with no pass rush..

Punt on 4th and 1 from the opponents 45 while behind late in the 4th,

But we go for it on 4th and one from our own 39 in the first and botch it, and hear " well.. we dont live in our fears..." 🤦🏻‍♂️

It also can lead to first downs, big gains, and touchdowns.
The problem is though....all teams game plan for us not to throw over the middle for years now. It makes the throws that we do throw more contested. Our offense is like a middle school offense. Hell........they might have a more sophisticated offense than ours. Sad state that both....our offense and defense our in at the moment. No quick fix unless Tomlin moves on from his past failures. Or Rooney moves on from his past failures. Unfortunately, I don't see either happening.

Well word is Russ changed most of the plays in that game....we can't have that now can we. Our 2nd game against Cincy we threw like 7 times in the first have. Go figure.

"Tomlin has publicly made that statement. He believes that throwing over the middle is much too risky and leads to turnovers."

In other breaking news, the sun rises in the east, water is wet, and man has landed on the moon.

Pretty fu kin dumb when you consider how many times other teams have done it to the stillers OVER AND OVER AND OVER. F'in Gronk made a career over and down the middle against the stillers.
