Tomlin Contract per ESPN’s Schefter

And thats what pro Tomlin people don't get, if you're a HOF coach and one of the best in the NFL like everyone says, you don't get embarrassed in the playoffs for 6 straight years, the only coach to go longer without a playoff win with the same team is Marvin Lewis and he was actually competitive in several games. That's why he gets blamed for everything, he's supposed to be a HOF coach, paid like one of the best in the NFL.

I dint think many 9-8 teams will win much anymore. I get your point but by nature 9-8 is not a good team.

Maybe not, but off the top of my head 3, 9-8 teams have won a playoff game in the last 3 seasons.

i cant remember why in 2005-6 steelers were the 6th seed in the playoffs. I was in iraq, but i came home and went to indy game and sb, but i dont remember why we were so low seeded.

They were sitting at 7-2, then Ben got hurt, Marvel missed a game in there too, they were the 6th seed at 11-5, AFC was loaded that year.
 
I'd love to know who leaked that info this week.....it was either the Steelers or Tomlin. Maybe Tomlin or his wife wants a change of scenery? The standard is substandard.


I think the biggest hope that Steeler fans can have is the time period between the Steelers last game and that 2027 option deadline in March 2026.

At least with this known, it opens the consideration of discussions with other teams because of the deadline.

After Dookie takes the option, the Steelers are far less likely to deal him. Of course, a PO win lessens that chance too.
 
What I don't understand is that that the national media still loves him. Romo said yesterday that he isn't a good coach, but a great coach.
If that's truly the case, are we all wrong, or should it be seen as an opportunity to receive some draft picks for Mike because literally every other team in the NFL would
jump at the chance to trade for him?

I think he could potentially be a great coach if he would hire competent coordinators and let them do their job without interference, but we all know that will never happen.

Great coaches don't get embarrassed regularly in the playoffs and great coaches don't go 8 seasons without winning a playoff game.
 
Yesterday's game does nothing to change the Steelers long-term issues. Win the division and win a playoff game and I'll pipe down a little bit with the head coach. The staff needs major changes across the board, including both coordinators.

I'm assuming you might be joking. But maybe not. Ben got hurt in SD. They had some head scratchers got pounded on Prime Time by Indy. They made the playoffs on Week 17. Bettis Ran over Urlacher in the snow.
* Considering the Iraq thing I'm pretty sure you are not joking. So I gratefully thank you for risking your life while I was at home enjoying all those games. Truly. *

and great coaches dont let their team perfom like they did against the bills. Worst game since 55-0 browns in 89 or whatever it was

ive had time to wonder and ask and look it up... lol i just never did,,, i was just happy to go to playoff game and sb

They were the 6th seed, but they had a 11-5 record. That said, the Giants won (both IIRC) against the pats* with a 9-7 record.
