My old job was managing a used/antiquarian bookstore. The owner was a crazy old dude from the Bronx. His dad had a concession stand at Yankee Stadium back in the 40s and 50s..then he moved to MSG.
Anyway, my boss grew up at Yankee Stadium and saw tons of crazy ****. Back then the reporters were more like enablers lol. If they said bad things about the player they wouldn't get another interview.
My boss saw Joe DiMaggio come out of the stadium dressed to the nines and the street kids would engulf him...he would kick, spit and curse at the kids and nobody even cared, lol.

Oh yeah? Please tell us how classy you would have been. Would you have offered to take the guy out for lunch? Would you really have stopped your half time preparations for a game we really need to win to go shake that guys hand? Or walked over to him to sign his camera because you want to look like such a great guy? Or would you have completely ignored him like he didn't exist? Please give us the Disney fairy tale ending we should have expected from this exchange.

I'm gonna say this another way. First he shouldn't be there. How the **** is he there anyhow. VIP pass? However just say go get em coach. Or something like that. He kinda implied that they weren't playing to win and Tomlin got bitchy. Nothing to see here. And I'm about as tough on Tomlin as it gets. What I will not do is attack his character. I think he is a pretty solid dude.

The fan access in the tunnel areas once a coach/player leaves the stadium is totally unnecessary. I know a lot of the new places have this type of access for the expensive club seats, but I don't like it. Either way, Tomlin didn't need to react that way and it would've been easier to not even acknowledge the guy. It's also a non-story.

I think it hit a cord with Coach Tomlin. I bet he was tired of hearing about @nd half playing NOT to lose that when he heard "let's play to win" it instantly pissed him off and that was his reaction without thinking.
