The first three years, Tomlin had a great deal more of the defensive core that Cowher and Donahoe had built up. Clearly THAT was what helped him win more of those playoff games and even snatch a SB victory.
After more and more of Cowher's core retired or got traded out, Tomlin has shown that HE cannot build a strong enough team to compete. And the longer it's gone the less and less Ben and AB have been able to do to overcome Tomlin's incompetency.
Face it man, there is NO way around Tomlin's failure. He has a 1st ballot H.O.F. QB, probably one of the top 3 WRs ever to play the game, one of the most dominant offensive lines in football (Although admittedly THAT has not been a constant over his tenure) and his over-riding claim to fame is that he's never had a "losing" season.
The truth is, Ben has never had a losing season, AB has never had a losing season and Tomlin has been along for the ride and gotten paychecks.
