It appears he was relaying a message from the front office. Apparently the Rooneys/Steelers have entered into an agreement to sell their game worn jerseys to an online sports memorabilia dealer.

Ruh roh, so now do we go on for pages on how the Rooneys are idiots, or is it now ok since it's the Rooneys? Hmmmmmmm?
It is now an event based on other reasons than a form of discipline. Completely removes it from MT and places it in a different file entirely, that of increasing the revenue stream. The Rooney's are just trying to squeeze more money out of folks. I suspect they will have quite a pile of unsold jerseys after the first batch do not sell or possibly they have a deal to sell the whole seasons worth.
Joe it seems interesting that you state the obvious and still fail to see the significance of it.Does that make it any less important to AB? Does that make it any less of an issue? Since when does the head coach of an nfl football team need to explain everything? If coach says we're running today, we're running today. If coach says no jersey swaps, no jersey swaps. All the reasons it was viewed as stupid and horrible are because people here thought it was motivated by Tomlin. Now that's it's the Rooneys, well, heck golly gee, that's different. Do you think the Rooneys are shopping at the thrift store? This being money motivated is arguably dumber than if it was some sort of focus type thing. At any rate, I can tell you the direction this whole thing is going to take now, and for the most part, it's suddenly going to be a non story.
Joe
Or all those Sweed and Mendenhall jerseys. It is now an event based on other reasons than a form of discipline. Sorta like the "fans" on this site.
Now lets all get pissed off Tomlin wants his players to focus on winning and not all the extra stuff. No wonder no one's posting here anymore.
Like I said earlier, the "fans" here on this site are a joke.
If the mandate came from higher up, why would Tomlin still allow the activity at all, even if it was discreet?
Makes no sense.
This thread is freggin hilarious- kind of a microcosm of the SN board
8:00am- Tomlins idea to stop jersey swap-
"Mr. Cool Shades", "Not a leader", inevitably something about Cowher...
4:00pm- said swap decision came from up above
I think it is a good way to stop the spread of ebola. Good thinking MT.
.gifs and youtube vids are a great way to respond when you cant really rebut anything of substance in a thread.
Really, breh?
Is my point THAT difficult to decipher? Do 5 second GIF's ruin your concentration that effectively?
You know what?! Dont answer that. Please spare us another one of your sarcastic post lacking any substance or humor.
Just enjoy this gif...
he likes how you think, hamster!
Joe it seems interesting that you state the obvious and still fail to see the significance of it.
It is not just no longer attributed to MT it also eliminates the event as being a rather silly attempt at discipline because it was not. That eliminates all the negativity associated with this event that was attributable to MT. Now all of the negativity will be passed on to the ownership who is just trying to squeeze a few more dollars out of the team. As to the significance of the event to the players it is likely to still be a non event as most of them can afford the increased cost of the jersey or they will just stop doing it. It was a non issue to me anyway as I failed to see it as having any value as a form of discipline and it does not change my opinion of MT one way or the other.
I love the Steelers. I just think Tomlin is weak. He's in way over his head and has no idea how to fix things other than befriending the players. That's lead to an erosion of his authority. Every week he talks about accountability and responsibility but the team lacks leadership. That's the major problem with the program right now.
I'm not saying he can't improve, but it certainly does seem as though he's had enough time to figure out the job description.
Elaborate on this "befriending". Give an example of Tomlin "befriending" his players.
