Tomlin Says Rudy The Red Nose QB to Start

If the O-line can give him time and our idiotic receivers don't quit on plays Mason can connect deep, unlike Mitch. His problem is on crossing routes, deep slants, etc. there he looks a lot like Mitch as far as accuracy. Unless he's put in a lot of work and surprises everyone....I won't be holding my breath.

Don't count on most of our wideouts to not halfass it. At this point in time, it's probably best that this complete dumpster fire burns to ashes.

Rudy gets the start against the Bengals. If Kenny is ready he’s the backup. Looks like Mitch is in Shades doghouse.
If Kenny is ready why isn't he starting?

I think the OP read too much into Tomlin’s statements … they don’t expect Pickett to be ready this week, they said they’d re-assess if he was…
If pickett is ready he would take over for Rudolph.. but he won’t be ready this early

Tomlin told Rudy if he can squeeze out 2 more wins this year he gets a two year extension for preserving the most meaningful record in all of football

It’s the start of a Christmas miracle!!! Wouldn’t be right without Rudolph guiding the sleigh

You got that right, just add in Ford sillily whacking away his happiness……… and all will be well.

Tis the season

Rudy will play better than expected. Will win 2 more games for Tomlin, preserving Tomlins precious record. Tomlin will declare Rudy the starter for next year to reward him.

Mike Tomlin coaching.

Guys why not Rudolph? I mean it worked for Santa all those years ago. Why not a real life modern day version of the biggest Christmas underdog story of all time! 🙏🙏🙏

It doesn't much matter. Our entire middle of the field (ILB's and S's) has been gutted. Any team should be running and throwing with even more ease than the entire season so far. The O Canaduh and Tomlin built is not meant to score a lot or come from a true deficit. I'd honestly be surprised if we can salvage another win this season. 7-10 will give us a decent draft spot.

That sounds so crazy it just might happen.

Deck chairs, meet Titanic.

Rudolph and Christmas Eve. It is a miracle in the making! What could go wrong? But seriously, as terrible as the team has been I see no harm in letting Mason get a shot. He has sat mostly quiet while watching the same poop show we have. Quite frankly, he should have had a shot sooner but the illusion of a somewhat decent record stopped that.

Note, I am not claiming anything will be different. Probably won't be. But I do think he deserves the shot, period.

We are still in that # 16 pick range, but a couple or 3 more losses might get us up to 12-ish.

I don’t advocate “tanking”, but I do hear what you are saying.

He was sitting there thinking “thank GOD he isn’t in there”.

I think like you, he needs a shot and maybe we will get a spark.

Tomlin said something about wine making?

I think Tomlin is looking at it through a lens of "How much worse can it be, really?"

I see no harm in starting Rudolph. The season is pretty much lost, Kenny is injured and hasn't shown much, and Trubisky throws like Edward Scissorhands. It really can't get a whole lot worse.

I really don't expect much. My hope are we just get into the end zone through the air twice. That alone would be an improvement. If by some miracle Rudolph lights it up that would actually be bad for us. In fact the worst thing that could happen. If he shows to be a competent QB and is sitting on his one year deal the team would be forced to try to re-sign him. Which he really has no loyalty to do so which either makes us have to overpay for a guy who might have 2-3 good games and is still a big question mark. Or we let him walk and he signs elsewhere and if he has a Kevin Dotson type year after us we look like fools for letting a good player go when we are unsure about our quarterback situation. And then if we somehow win a couple then we get even worse draft position and likely have at least one more year of Shades as HC.

I can't root against the Steelers. The optimist in me want us to win out and sneak into the playoffs and somehow get hot to win it all. I can't help that. But the realist in me knows Rudolph sucking and the team going down in flames might be the best thing to happen for the long term health of the organization.

here is a novel idea (sarcasm), use a 3 DL (Benton, Cam, Larry O) front plus Watt and Highsmith. The ILB would be Roberts.

They might throw it but sure as hell they shouldn't be able to run it
