Tomlin to Redskins Discussion Thread

My issue is that most of these commentators don't even know what they are talking about. I listened to a show last night where they were talking about how some coach had only won 2 or 3 playoff games in 9 years. Then they talked about how great Tomlin was and that he should be looking to move up by going to another team to turn them around. I'm like WTF? Do you even know what his playoff record is in the last 9 years? Seriously, these people go on perception not reality.

I wonder why Tony Romo would say about Tomlin's bad calls? He get's it. And I bet he would spell it out for the viewers too. Most announcers get fed information because they need it.

How in the hell did Tomlin turn this team around when he arrived. They were loaded even with a young franchise QB one season removed from a SB victory. We had great coordinators, great leaders, players. They suffered from SB hangover that next year so Tomlin had the table set for him. Turn another team around. Ya, go to Washington and tell us about it after three losing seasons after you get canned.

I didn't say he did. I said the commentators think he such a great coach that he could do it. But none of them want him in Washington because they don't like Snyder. They think the Redskins job is a dead end job because Snyder is a moron and won't backup whoever the coach is going to be.

Please, for the love of God, let it be so.

This team needs an enema.

Best thing that could happen now is that somehow the team wins 6 or 7 games to make Tomlins value skyrocket, then pull the trigger

Steven A. Wants Tomlin to have Complete Control of Redskins

Take it with a grain of salt considering who’s reporting it but this could be wonderful for us. Snyder will probably give up the house for him too.

This is becoming too big of a distraction for the team right now, it might be best to trade Tomlin there before the deadline :)

Ben can finish out the year as HC.

If we could get at least one 1st round pick and some other picks, I would seriously think about a change. Stability is good but he's had a good run of what, 13 years? That is plenty of stability. Nothing will probably happen until after the season anyway. I can't see the Steelers doing anything during the season - at least not until the season is a guaranteed complete loss.

If any organization is dumb enough to give up a ton of draft picks and money, it would be Washington. We couldn't be that lucky, though.

Yep Snyder will give up everything to get his guy. He’s that stupid.

I don't see it happening. But it could set the Steelers up for years ala Dallas and Minnesota trade.

That's exactly what you would expect to hear. He won't show his hand, not Mr Cool Shades expert in media relations

If he's willing to sell the farm for Tomlin, yeah he is that stupid. But Tomlin would be stupid not to seriously consider it given he grew up not too far away and his son is going to college not too far away. Heard Tomlin has close ties to city of Pittsburgh though and loves the Rooneys.

One to certainly keep an eye on. Nothing would even happen until the offseason though IMO.

I wish he could fool the opposing team as expertly as he can fool the media.

money can almost sway anyone, but I said in the beginning of this story coming out, there's really no other reason why he would leave the B&G to coach a cluster in WASH.

If you think about it there is really no upside for Tomlin to take the job. Think about this:

1. Washington would have to trade away a lot of high draft picks. They may not win 2 games this year. So we're talking top 5 in every round.
2. Tomlin would have zero to work with. They obviously don't have the talent to win now and won't have the draft picks to win in the future.
3. Tomlin still has 3 years left here. 2 of those will be with a HOF QB and a defense with at least 8 1st round picks.
4. Tomlin gets to play the clowns and bungles every year. The rats have a RB at QB for the next few years. The skins play the Cowboy, Eagles and even NY (who are better than them now).
5. Owners... Who do you want to play for? Rooney lets Tomlin do about whatever he wants. Snyder is known as a hands on owner. He's like Jones in Dallas.

I can't think of one good reason why Tomlin would agree to any of that.

Complete control of operations? A chance to leave before everyone else realizes he is just an average coach and not this great franchise Coach?
