Tomlin took the loss hard.

The riverboat gambler doesn't know how to win a close game when it's there for the taking

With Brown and Deangelo back next week we would've destroyed the Pats

I don't know about that. Brady and his quick release dink and dunk would of been a nightmare for our Defense. Not saying we couldn't win or make a contest of it but to say we'd destroy them is a bit far fetched

We can't all be manly-men like coach. My best friend is from Brentwood. He took it very hard. He was visibly shaken and welling up. I don't blame him.

Criticism for showing emotion...get the **** out of here.

For all the naysayers, give Coach Tomlin a break. Never broke down over the entire season despite HIGE adversity.

I think he has won the heart and soul of this young and not so young team.

Look out NFL. The Steelers are coming back this year stronger and smarter. A lot of young guys have grown up.

I did notice that in the post-game press conference, Tomlin's speech was softer, his delivery not as mechanical and less riddled with cliche'. The loss really seemed to take something out of him.

Got no problem with the guy showing real emotion...maybe he'll work even harder to become a better head coach after this.

Idk about you guys but I've choked up when we've lost and when we pull off miracles too.

Even us as fans invest so much into this sport/team. Whether its tickets, jerseys, or even this site and the bottom line is the invest much more. The ones who truly love the game anyway. And if you've never played the game (I'm guessing coach never has) then he will never understand.

I don't think Tomlin is tired. Crying is for a player who's child has cancer or a tragedy. We lost a game and football game. Puts things into perspective.

I don't think you could be more wrong. This shows how much he cares and respects the players he coaches and that he is as emotionally invested in this as they are. Way off base here Coach.

Looked like he was tearing up during the presser too.

When we beat the Broncos on the road in Jan 2006 to get to the SB, I might have gotten something in my eyes.

I was at the 2004 divisional OT win over the jets. When Hall missed that FG I dropped to my knees and sobbed.

You guys getting on Coach just don't understand the man. He's a ******* MASTER of subtle irony.
Here, let me explain:

Coach goes on the Pro Football Talk website after the game. He sees an article about Tomlin crying after a tough loss that ended a long season of adversity.
Although he doesn't want to admit it, this stirs some emotion in him. It makes him mad; possibly even sad, that Tomlin would publicly show such weakness.
Now here's where the irony comes in ...
He just has to VENT ... So, he comes on a public board to cry about Tomlin crying.

A ******* MASTER of irony I tell ya!

I personally thought they got some magic back this year. Now keep it this offseason and come back next year to win it all.

I have it on good authority that the real reason Mike cried was because he wasn't able to take any timeouts home with him from this game. Take heart, MT, you'll get more TO's next year.

Seriously, I have no problem with him crying, if he did. however, I hope he is also angry, anger drives effort more than tears. Based on the way the defense played the last two games, with even Jarvis showing some skill, I'm already excited to see this team next year.

Call me spartan but there's no crying in football for head coaches unless a tragedy happens, or it's your retirement speech.

These are alpha males in the locker room. Not all of them are going to like this, and those who don't might lose respect.

Coach... Come on! Seriously? Did Tomlin dump your sister at some point in the past? Good grief!

I have been involved in sports most of my life... including with my kids. If coaches can't ever cry... then I am through and I need to turn in my man-card! You work and train and teach and sweat and hurt... and then you get to the end and fall short? I've been there. Let me be even more clear... I don't I would want to play for a coach or coach with a coach... that COULDN'T or WOULDN'T cry!

.

His star quarterback gutted it out...his quarterback dug deep last week and came back after an injury and led this team to victory over its nemesis in a hostile environment.

Sunday, shot up with painkillers, Ben was still remarkable to do what he did against the leagues top defense without 4 starters, 3 of which were Pro Bowlers. Tomlin was emotional probably because of how proud he was of this team and that it had to end like it did. He couldn't ask for more.....they gave everything they had after having to gut it out week after week this season. They never quit on him.....they never blinked, so he didn't have to cut any eyelids.

The last time our players/coaches showed emotion to the point of tears, we won the Superbowl the very next season.

Here we go!!

Maybe he realized that if he hadn't **** the bed twice against the lowly Rats they would've been playing a home game coming off a bye with a healthy roster.

Didn't realize he ran out the tunnel by himself both games

I usually leave your drivel alone, but this is absolutely garbage. Reaching here Coach ...don't pass go don't collect $200 dollars.

So,...................This isn't a message board????????? lol

Look at it this way, at least he didn't run back into the tunnel. Tomlin is a very good respectable coach and we are lucky to have him. There are much worse out there..

Salute the nation

You cant deny that if we had a player, like Burfict on this roster, there's no way in hell Tomlin allows him to kill this team with stupid PF penalties....UNLIKE Coughlin or Marvin....

Good to see the coach cares. He's not perfect, but with this team hopefully healthy next year there will be lots of pressure on him to bring home #7. Anything less is a failure.

I don't have any problem with it. But I would make fun of Harbaugh if he had cried.

That's because Harbaugh cries/whines all the time.
