Tomlin vs Harbaugh.

There’s a group of coaches with nearly the same resume. Harbaugh gets burned more in dumb, aggressive moves but has had more success in the playoffs. It’s probably time for both teams to move in a different direction.
Exactly. Every coach does dumb ****. The better ones do less dumb **** than the others.
Hairball does dumb **** by being unnecessarily aggressive, going for it on 4th down instead of taking a FG, failed 2 point conversions, playing Lamar when he's hurt, that sort of thing, especially against the Steelers.
Shades does dumb **** by being too conservative.
I think Shades is a slightly better coach than Hairball.
Hairball has more on the line tonight and he'll be so tight you couldn't drive a sewing needle up his *** with a sledgehammer. Look for him to lose his ****.

What does "reportedly" mean to you???

It means guys with inside knowledge are reporting on what they observe. A lot of guys much closer to the team than anyone here have echoed this claim.

It would be highly insulting, in fact, to suggest that the longest tenured coach in the league has his roster picked for him by others, one of whom is an accountant.

Like Tomlin should've is what you're saying?
Who is responsible for the QB's each has had? So it's a negative that Harbaugh has a Two time MVP at QB, but Tomlin is celebrated for not having a Franchise QB?
Tomlin won with Ben when he was young and cheap. Harbaugh wasted the young and cheap years of Jackson. This ain’t a defense of Tomlin as much as an indictment of Harbaugh and how he has wasted Jackson’s talent with some really really bad decisions. Go back and watch some of his biggest losses and you are left just scratching your head over his coaching moves.

It means nothing. It is pure speculation. Considering how drastically our drafts and free agency changed under Khan it would directly refute this. Otherwise why such a big change.

Speculation. Not proof.

Who do you think has the most pull on the roster decisions in Pittsburgh if not Tomlin?
The GM. Otherwise the change in tactics wouldn’t have been so dramatic when Colbert left. If Tomlin was in charge things would have stayed status quo.

The bean counter with no football experience as a player or coach has roster control over the HOF head coach? The tactics changed because Ben retired, not because Colbert did.

You Tomlin stans must think very, very little of him to continue suggesting he's a victim of everyone else in the organization, all of whom have less experience and standing in the organization.

Does it matter? It's a collective decision making process...

Of course it does, if the majority of the blame for this roster falls on one person more than the others, it stands to reason that person must be replaced or stripped of some power at the very least.

You know the real loser might be the winner of this game.
Neither team is built for a SB run. The difference of winning this game is several positions in next year's draft.
The Steelers could win by losing.

So if we win. We win! Knocking out the Ravens would be great!
But if we lose. We win! Will have a much better draft pick next year and be in better position to move around in the draft.

Don’t know what a Tomlin Stan is. You asked a question. I gave you answer with some evidence to back it up. Tomlin has his input but the buck stops ultimately with Rooney who has hired Omar to mar
These decisions. In my opinion the evidence points to him being the one calling the final shots. As it should be.

Tangent: as I have stated in regards to other ILBs, that position can take quite a bit of time to master. Devin Bush seems to finally be getting a clue. Good for him. Also **** him for being a Brown.

This keeps getting better. Now it's Rooney and Kahn building the roster?

Former player says MT has final say, Ben said it earlier this year, too. Speculate away, I'll believe those who were literally in the room.

Well Harbaugh has had Allen, Burrow, and Mahomes to go through, Brady was out in 08. Tomlin never has to beat Brady or Manning in the playoffs. And you are incorrect on your info, Ben signed a new contract that made him the highest paid player in the NFL in the spring of 08, so before they won the Super Bowl.

Exactly, Kahn is nothing but a numbers guy, they aren't going to put him in control of personnel over Tomlin who is the longest tenured coach in the NFL, if anyone believes that, I'm assuming Santa came down your chimney?

In a few weeks we'll be hearing about how involved Tomlin is at the Senior Bowl and combine, how he stands out from all other coaches the way he works with the kids.

And then I guess he'll let Omar Kahn build his roster.

Yes he did but big contracts don’t throttle the team completely for the first couple years, it is later years of kicking the can down the road that catches up to you. The window is open usually for a year or two. It has caught up to the chiefs. We have also had Allen, Jackson and Mahomes to go through in three straight appearances.

Of course Rooney ultimately has final say. I doubt often he’s involved and lets Omar work but he does run the team. You think anything happens without his final stamp of approval? If you think otherwise you are not even worth debating.

How often does Rooney give his "final stamp"? I could see it on major (read: expensive) free agents, maybe the first round pick, but Tomlin is in charge of personnel according former players of his and multiple insiders.

Sorry, gotta trust them over anonymous message board posters.

He had a loaded defense and a QB that played like a Hall of Famer for that Post Season. Since then, he is no better than Tomlin for what he has gotten out of Lamar. Sorry given the choice between the two with a gun to my head I take Tomlin over Harbaugh every single time.
Put the crack pipe down and back away slowly.
I understand us hating all things Ravens and Harbaugh, but let’s not talk gibberish nonsense.
Maybe it really is two fat kids in a race, but Harbaugh is clearly the faster fat kid.

Nope. Don’t agree and neither do a seeming majority. Even the Tomlin haters on the Fan give him the nod over the douche bag from Baltiwhore. His misuse of Henry at times in the playoffs has been breathtakingly embarrassing.
