We traded for TE Nick Vannett

That's what I'm talking about. Colbert wakes up from his deep slumber and does something he should have done months ago. To his credit, he's been active as far as trading up in the draft to grab Bush, and trading for Fitz, but for some reason the TE spot has been ignored. Nice, aggressive move to stop the bleeding at the position.

Vance in a sling, we are desperate for TE help, 6'6, 260, maybe he can block

Ouch, we gave up a 5th rd pick.. that’s too high IMO. I’m pretty sure he’s under contract for one year too.

I no longer like this trade. Not good at all.

After battling through two seasons dealing with a herniated disk in his back while being stuck at the bottom of the depth chart behind Jimmy Graham and Luke Willson, Vannett made positive strides on the field last year. Playing over 500 offensive snaps for the first time, he emerged as a reliable receiving option, establishing career-highs in receptions (29), receiving yards (269), and touchdowns (3).

With his back finally healthy, the 261-pound Vannett also played a noteworthy role in Seattle’s ascendance to the top-ranked rushing unit in the NFL, serving as a dependable in-line blocker at tight end.

"We need him to show up in a big way every game and he's really been asking a lot of questions, really been working at really, really hard." quarterback Russell Wilson said following a close loss to the Chargers last November. "So it's cool to just see his progression and the sky's the limit for him."

So what do they have left in next years draft, ....a 2nd and a 7th??

In the final year of his rookie contract, will only count $900,000 against the cap

I don’t understand them giving away these draft picks like this... they’ve never done this when we had our HOF QB healthy, yet they did it for Rudolph. Seems strange. For a 7th rd pick, that’s fine. Even a 6th but a 5th(basically a low 4th rd)for a TE to play 13 games??? Makes no sense.

Starting to look like Tombert have been given a deadline.

More useless moves to try to save a useless season. Let's see how many more high round draft picks we can give away.

They are throwing everything at this years team because they don't want Tomlin to have a losing record. Trading away draft picks for players isn't a long term strategy. It's a win now at all costs strategy. It reeks of desperation.

After watching that, I did come away thinking he's Jesse James 2.0. I like his situational awareness and ability to find the soft zone and it looks like he has great hands.

It’s looking more and more like this... Tomlin/Colbert are feeling some heat and putting the future of the team in jeopardy because of it.
